A Detailed Lesson Plan In

GEOMETRY
March 30-31,2022| Grade 9 | Q3W6

The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of

parallelograms and triangle similarity.

The learner is able to is able to investigate, analyze, and solve

problems involving parallelograms and triangle similarity through
appropriate and accurate representation.

The learner illustrates the similarity of figures (M9GE-IIIg-1) and proves

the conditions for the similarity of triangles: 1.1 SAS similarity theorem, 1.2
SSS similarity theorem, 1.3 AA similarity theorem. (M9GE-IIIg-h-1)

At the end of the 120-minute session, 90% of the students should be

able to:

1. recall the concept of similarity of polygons through a desmos

activity;
2. understand the theorems on the similarity of triangles through
answering several problems; and
3. prove similar triangles involving the similarity theorems.

Good morning, Class. Good morning, Ma’am

virtual reaction that best represents your mood
today?

I hope that everyone had their breakfast.

For our attendance, I am requesting everyone

to open their cameras so that I could take a
snapshot.
Kindly access desmos.com and I have assigned
an activity there. Please open it, and let’s wait
for the others.

The activity is a guessing game. Just guess

whether the figures are similar or not. Let’s
answer altogether. Let’s start

Are the curtains behind the curtain similar? The student answers vary.

Okay, good analysis. Let’s proceed with the

next.

Determine if the two triangles are similar or not

I have here different figures. State the

figures are congruent.

Let’s proceed with another figure.

We have here two similar triangles. What

would be our scale factor?

What can you observe with these two

figures?

Their three sides are proportional.

They are similar.

If they are similar, what would be the

postulate/theorem we can use to prove SSS Similarity Theorem
that those two triangles are similar?

are similar.

Very well said!

How about these figures? What can you

observe about these two figures?

Suppose the angle of the first
triangle is congruent to the angle of
the second triangle. Then, the sides
of the two triangles are in
proportion. The triangles are similar.

Are they similar? If so, what would be the

theorem we should use to prove that they Yes, it would be SAS Similarity

So, what can we conclude about SAS If there is one corresponding

congruent angle and the sides,
including these angles, are in
proportion. The triangles are similar.

Good job! Let’s have the next.

The two corresponding angles are

congruent.

Okay, the two triangles are similar. What

theorem can we use to prove that they AA Similarity Theorem
are similar?

congruent to two angles of another
triangle, they are similar.

Very well said! Let’s have examples.

Determine whether the triangles are

similar. If they are similar, state the
theorem and the scale factor.
