A Detailed Lesson Plan In

GEOMETRY
April 13,2022| Grade 9 | Q3W8-9

The learner demonstrates an understanding of key concepts of

parallelograms and triangle similarity.

The learner is able to is able to investigate, analyze, and solve

problems involving parallelograms and triangle similarity through
appropriate and accurate representation.

The learner applies the theorems to show that given triangles are
similar (M9GE-IIIi-1), proves the Pythagorean Theorem (M9GE-IIIi-2), and
solves problems that involve triangle similarity and right triangles. (M9GE-
IIIj-1)

At the end of the 120-minute session, 90% of the students should be

able to:

1. recall the lesson about the similarity of right triangle theorems;

2. understand the Pythagorean theorem through the Desmos; and
3. solve problems involving similarity of right triangles using Canva.

Kindly access desmos.geometry, and let’s
construct three right triangles.

You may start constructing.

(They will start constructing their
three right triangles.)

Are you finished? Next is to measure their (They will measure the angles and
angles and sides. sides.)

Do you have the three right triangles? Can

anybody share their triangles with the Yes, Ma’am
class?

Okay, kindly complete this table.

hypotenuse, then a and b are the legs, 𝑐 = 𝑎 + 𝑏
respectively.

Very well said. Is there anyone familiar with It’s Pythagorean Theorem.
that formula?

Very good.

Kindly answer these problems.

1. Solution:
1. Find the value of c, if a = 8 and b = 3 𝑐 2 = 𝑎2 + 𝑏 2
𝑐 2 = 82 + 32
𝑐 2 = 64 + 9
𝑐 2 = 73
𝑐 = √73

2. Is a triangle with sides 7, 24, and 25 as 2. Solution:

the hypotenuse, a right triangle? 𝑐 2 = 𝑎2 + 𝑏 2
252 = 72 + 242
625 = 49 + 576
625 = 625

They are equal therefore; the

triangle is a right triangle.

3. Find the length of the diagonal of a 3. Solution:

rectangle whose sides are 15 cm and 8 2
𝑐 = 𝑎2 + 𝑏 2
cm.
𝑐 2 = 152 + 82
𝑐 2 = 225 + 64
𝑐 2 = 289
𝑐 = 17 𝑐𝑚
