II. Rationale

With many influences brought by improper using of drugs facing by young people,
effective drug education is important. It provides knowledge necessary to avoid risky
situations and information to make healthier personal choices. Moreover, education can play
a counterbalancing role in shaping a normative culture of safety, moderation, and informed
decision making.
In line with this, School Drug Symposium will be conducted by the Barkada
Kontra Droga (BKD) and National Drug Education Program (NDEP) of Estanza National
High School.

III. Project Objectives

The School Drug Symposium generally aims to:
 discuss the effects of abuse and misuse of drugs on the person, workplace,
family, and community
 promote responsibility towards the use of drugs and relate these to their own
actions and those of others

 create awareness on the drug abuse problem and generate social response
on its prevention and control

Specific Objectives:
The conduct of this Drug Symposium expects participants to have:
 inculcate the skills of “Saying ‘No’” as a firm foundation for preventive
education


III. Methodologies
The Drug Symposium will be conducted on January 25, 2022 @ 8:00 am onwards
virtually using the Zoom app. It will be facilitated by the proponent and technical working
group. It shall be conducted through lecture interspersed with a discussion to give way to an
interactive, spontaneous communication between the lecturer and the participants. An open
forum shall be encouraged so that the lecturer and the participants can openly exchange
ideas and information about specific issues in order to reach an agreement.

VII. Desired Impact and Outcome of the Project

A. Impact
This Drug Symposium shall:

a. Make students aware on the effects of abuse and misuse of drugs on the
person, workplace, family, and community

b. Resolve concerns or issues of drug abuse and generate social response on its
prevention and control

B. Outcome of the Project

The expected outcomes of the training are the following:
