PERSONAL, SUBJECT,
OBJECT, POSSESSIVE, AND
REFLEXIVE PRONOUNS.
PERSONAL PRONOUN
A pronoun is used in place of a noun.
A pronoun refers to a noun that comes
before it. The noun it refers to what is
called the antecedent.
Example:
The manager has a new computer.

A personal pronoun can be used as subject,
object, possessive and reflexive.
SUBJECT PRONOUNS
Subject pronouns are the words in a
sentence that refer to the person
doing the action of the verb. In
English, they are words like I, You,
He, She, it, We, They. In the
sentence “he eats soup”, “he” is the
subject.
Examples:
She works hard.
we repeat the verbs.
Who are they?
IMPERSOAL EXPRESSIONS
"IT" is used as a subject.

IT is late.
IT comes every day.

OBJECT PRONOUNS

1-They are personal pronouns that work as a complement and


receive the action. These pronouns in English substitute the
part of the sentence that is already known, the object of the
sentence.
These pronouns are used to avoid repeating the object of a
sentence. Also, it is important that you do not forget that
object pronouns always go after the verb in English, unlike in
Spanish. And they can also be used after prepositions.
I – me (me)
you – you (te)
he – him (le)
she – her (le)
it – it (lo, la, los, las)
we – us (nos)
you – you (os, les)
they – them (los, las, les)
Examples:

2. When there are two pronouns in a sentence, the pronoun for things
comes before the pronoun for people.
Examples:
Ana writes a letter to the supervisor.
Ana escribe una carta a la supervisora.

Ana writes it to her.
I gave the report to Sheila. i gave it to her.

Reflexive Pronouns
1-Reflexive pronouns are those pronouns that are used when the action of the verb falls on the subject
of the sentence itself. In addition, they are also often used when you want to emphasize that the
subject has performed the action and not another person.
2-Types of reflexive pronouns
To use a reflexive pronoun we must have as a reference the subject and the personal pronoun that could
replace it.
3-How are reflexive pronouns used?
Reflexive pronouns are used to:
Express that the action of the verb is performed and received by the same person.The reflexive pronoun
always follows the main verb.
Examples:
They are preparing themselves for the opera.
Ellos se están preparando para la ópera.

Dry yourself quickly, you are completely wet!
