Students are given an assignment to make a personal letter

The teacher greets and cheeks the student’s presence

Students share his or her personal letter infront of the class

The teacher asks the students’ impression to give a feed-back, which can be in the from of any

Students are given an assignment to send the letter for his or her next friend.

Give assignment to send the letter through post office and reply back the letter that will be accepted

A.    Standar Kompetensi       
5. Memahami makna teks tulis fungsional da esei pendek sederhana berbentuk descriptie dan
recount yang berkaitan dengan lingkungan sekitar.
6.    Mengungkapkan makna dalam teks lisan fungsional dan monolog pendek sederhana yang
berbentuk descriptive dan recount untuk berinteraksi dengan lingkungan sekitar.
                
B.    Kompetensi Dasar           
5.1  Membaca nyaring bermakna teks tulis fungsional dan esei berbentuk descriptive dan recount
pendek dan sederhana dengan ucapan, tekanan dan intonasi yang berterima yang berkaitan
dengan lingkungan sekitar.
6.1  Mengungkapkan makna dalam bentuk teks tulis fungsional pendek sederhana dengan
menggunakan ragam bahasa tulis secara akurat, lancar dan berterima untuk berinteraksi dengan
lingkungan sekitar.

C.    Tujuan Pembelajaran
Pada akhir pembelajaran, siswa dapat :
1.      Menemukan jenis teks personal letter dengan menanamkan budaya gemar membaca.
2.      Mengidentifikasi topik pembicaraan dalam personal letter dengan sungguh-sungguh.
3.      Mengidentifikasi informasi tertentu yang terdapat didalam personal letter dengan penuh
ketekunan.
4.      Menemukan tujuan penulisan personal letter dengan penuh percaya diri.
5.      Menemukan bagian-bagian dari personal letter dengan penuh tanggungjawab.

E.     Materi Pembelajaran
Personal Letter
A personal letter is an informal written message between friends, relatives, and
acquintances. Ussually, a personal letter is about personal fellings, thoughts, or experiences,
which are meant to be read by a specific person.
The features of a personal letter :
·         The date.
·         Receiver’s  address.
·         An opening greeting or salutation, usually “Dear...”.
·         A sign off or farewell, for example : “Yours sincerely”, “Best regards”,”Best wishes”, or
“Cheers”.
·         Your signature to close the letter.
·         The use of informal  language to express your fellings, thoughts, and experience.
Punctuations :
§  The dates are always in the order of day, month and year.
§  Commas are used after the city’s name in front of the date.
e.g. Jakarta, 11 November 2011
Makassar, 28 Agustus 2011
§  We also use commas after greetings and farewells.
e.g. Dear Sari,
Dear Dameria,
Yours sincerely,
Best regards,
Always,
Love,
§  We use commas to separate the different parts of the address which are written in order.
e.g. Jalan RS. Fatmawati 3, Pondok Labu, Jakarta Selatan
Jalan Gatot Subroto 10, Samarinda, kalimantan Timur.

Personal letter has 5 main parts.


Ø  HEADING: Includes the address and the date. In some cases, it is OK to just write the date.
Ø  GREETING: The greeting usually starts with 'Dear' and is followed the person's name and then a
comma.
Ø  BODY: After skipping a line, you begin the body of your letter which is the main text of your letter.
Indent for each new paragraph.
Ø  CLOSING: The closing includes a short capitalized expression such as 'Sincerely' or 'Love' and is
followed by a comma. Skip a line after the body before writing your closing.
Ø  SIGNATURE: You sign your name beginning directly below the closing.
Sometimes you may add a POSTSCRIPT at the end of your letter. You write P.S., add a
note and then end it with your initials.
Parts of a Personal Letter
1.     Heading
-       Address (sometimes not included) and the date
2.     Greetings
-       Always ends with a comma
-       There are two types of greetings :
a)    Formal (ex: Dear)
b)    Informal (ex: Hi, Greetings, name, etc)
3.     Body
-       Heart of the letter
4.     Closing
-       Ends with a comma
5.     Signature Line

School this past week. I feel that your input about the College Hometown and about college in
general is valuable information for me to use during my college career.

I have been a part of Hometown High School baseball team for three years and I look forward to
be able to play baseball while I attend college. I have followed Hometown College baseball team
for many years and admire their accomplishments, as well as the achievement of the overall
exercise program.

With this in mind, I want to ask if there are scholarships for incoming freshmen want to play
