Process Description

Pre-production in film making

Film making have three steps pre-production, production and post-production. Pre-production is the
process of planning after script is ready and decide what is to done in the project.

Steps:

1. Form your company as foundation


2. Create a preliminary film budget and production schedule
3. Hire key production department heads (like your cinematographer, production designer, editor,
costume designer, casting director, etc.)
4. Creative planning by department heads on STORYBOARDS, SHOT LISTS, SCHEDULES, AND
BUDGET
5. Check budget and shooting schedule
6. Take RENTALS, PROPS, LOCATIONS AND PERMITS as need in film
7. Hire crew and audition talent
8. Rehearsals and final prep

Conclusion

Pre-production ensures smooth flow of work while creating content. During pre-production, the script is
broken down into individual scenes with storyboards and all the locations, props, cast members,
costumes, special effects and visual effects are identified. Sets are constructed, the crew is hired,
financial arrangements are put in place and a start date for the beginning of principal photography is set.
