Assignment #1

1 TELL ME SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF. NAME AND BASIC INFO; YOUR HOBBIES AND
INTERESTS; SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR FAMILY, ORIGIN AND BIRTH; YOUR RELIGION/SPIRITUALITY
(IF YOU HAVE); YOUR OUTLOOK IN LIFE.

- I’m Jan Rhey B. Castro of SED221, 17 years-old and was born in November 23, 2004. I live in
Antipolo City, Rizal and my hobbies are reading books (in any genres and any different
reading medium). I also have the hobby of journaling which only happens weekly. Playing
online games like genshin impact and other player vs. player type of games. I don’t think I
could share anything about my family since we’re just like any other family. My religion is
Christian although my family is purely Roman Catholic, I used to be active before on doing
church-related activities but that eagerness is nowhere to be seen today. Moving on to the
last question, I have this mantra in life that if best is possible, good is not enough.

2 ANSWER IN ALL HONESTY. DO YOU THINK A COURSE IN HUMANITIES IS STILL SIGNIFICANT TO

THE YOUTH? IS IT SIGNIFICANT TO YOU? WHY OR WHY NOT?

- Humanities course is still significant to the youth because it teaches the basic boundaries of
different courses that revolves around social sciences. It is also important to study this course
as it molds the skills of our future leaders and public servants. To dig deeper, its also
significant for me as I am studying to be a secondary educator, as I browse through the
syllabus of this course, I realized that there’s more than what I think it was. Although some of
it are already familiar to me because I studied HUMSS back in senior high school. So, to sum
it all; humanities course is a significant subject because of its concepts and sub-lessons that
help build the leaders of future generations.

3. PLEASE CHOOSE ONE OF THE NINE POINTS RAISED AND EXPLAIN WHY IS IT MOST SIGNIFICANT
TO YOU.

- The most significant point for me in the given context is number five, which is “they teach us
to deal critically and logically with subjective, complex, imperfect information”. It is the most
significant because it basically administers the other points raised because by dealing things critically
and logically allows us to think rationally and understand others carefully through their culture and
language. It can also help foster social justice and equality by thinking logically, we can elect the
right people on the government and establish laws and constitutions accordingly. There’s no need
for me to elaborate it consecutively since it already explains itself. Community issues should be dealt
logically and rationally as it is.
