I - Direction: Read the story and answer the following question below.

The Disobedient Child


Story by Laksmi A. De Guia

Tony is a boy who is always complaining about everything he does. His mother is sad. One
day, Tony was playing with his friends. His mother asked, "Tony, could you please help me wash
the dishes?"
"Oh, mother! Why me? Can't you see that I'm still playing?" Tony replied.
"Oh, Tony! When are you going to learn how to follow and stop complaining?”, said Mother. "One
day, you will be surprised that your voice is gone, and you cannot complain anymore!", mother
added.
"Here we go again, mother! I will do it later after playing," said Tony.
Later that night, Tony began to dream. He dreamed that he was in a dark place. He was so afraid
and started looking for his mother. He started to scream, but there is no voice coming out. Then
suddenly, he remembered what his mother said. Then he cried while saying, “God, please wake me
up. I promise to obey and stop complaining from now on."

Then he suddenly felt someone shaking him and he woke up from that bad dream. From then on,
Tony began to be obedient that made his mother happy.

 In retelling and or re-enacting events from the story you had heard or read, it is important to
know the essential details that happened in the story.
 The most important in retelling or re-enacting events in the story are the five elements of the
story. And these are the following.

1. Character- the person or individuals in the story.


2. Settings- the place where the story happened.
3. Plot- this is where the action of the story took place.
4. Conflict- the problem in the story.
5. Solution- the way where the problem in the story is being resolved.
