2. OPERATING
PRINCIPLES
2.1 General Description
Ecil Produtos introduces the Cappo 100 portable calibrator, totally developed with in-house technology
and 100% locally manufactured.

The calibrator is light and compact, powered by 3.7Vdc @ 5,200mA Li-Ion batteries, the plastic outer
casing has a modern design, with a touchscreen, 65,536 colors, 272x480 pixels graphic display. It also has a 5
buttons tactile keyboard, giving the user an alternative way to navigate the menus.

In order to better utilize the resistive touchscreen display, we recommend the use of an object
with a non-piercing soft and thin tip.

The instrument has two simultaneous and independent universal channels that are isolated from each
other. The Input channel is used for measurement, while the Output channel is used for simulation. Both
channels accept the following types of signals; Thermocouples, RTs, mV, V, mA and Ohmic Resistance. Each
channel has its own 24V @ 30mA power source, also isolated from each other.

As an optional feature, the instrument can also have two more configurable channels for pressure
measurement, one internal (CP1) and the other external (CP2).

All measurements and simulations are made using high-resolution integrated circuits (24bits), with
sophisticated conditioning, filtering and amplification systems, thereby giving the product excellent precision
and thermal stability over time.

Cappo 100 is supplied with a calibration certificate accredited by Cgcre.

6.5 SCALE X
The SCALE X function allows you to display an input or simulate an output in an user-defined engi-
neering unit using correlation (linear interpolation).

Through this function, the user can display a linear input or simulate a linear output such as Voltage
or Current, scaled as needed, through the following equation:

Input: Y = X% . (DispHi - DispLo) + DispLo

Start of Range (RangeLo) Initial value to display (DispLo)

Value measured/simulated (X) Adjusted Output Value (Y)
End of Range (RangeHi) Final value to display (DispHi)

Output= RangeLo = 0% Output start of range

Output =X= X% Value between O to 100%
Output= RangeHi = 100% Output end of range

The decimal point position of the value to be displayed is freely configurable, also, an 8-character
unit can be assigned to it.

On the Config screen, tap on the SCALE X icon and the following screen will be displayed, with icons
that give access to the parameters’ configuration at the top part of the screen and a table containing the
parameters set at the bottom:

With the help of pressure generation accessories, configures an internal (CP1) or external (CP2) pres-
sure module’s output channel, note that the pressure measurement is an optional that must be defined at the
time of purchase.

The pressure unit to be displayed can be configured in the Config Menu, with 14 different units.

On the display there is a button called ZERO that can be used to zero the pressure at a certain point,
thus generating an offset on the indicated pressure.

When the ZERO function is activated, the left side of the button is displayed (Z), by pressing the ZERO
button again, the offset is turned off and the indication (Z) is removed.

To configure the instrument’s pressure input, just tap on the Pressure icon and a dialog box will give the
option to choose the pressure module:

8.8 Auto-Ramp Output

The Auto-Ramp function allows the generation of an output that will automatically follow a predefined
curve.

The user can define the type of output signal, the step-up and step-down ratios, the superior and infe-
rior levels, and the number of iterations for this cycle.

Such parameters can be configured in Chapter 6.4 Auto-Ramp Configuration.

The Auto-Ramp function will be automatically cancelled when either the Input, the Output, or the Con-
fig Menus’ is accessed.

Note: During the execution of the Auto-Ramp, the Auto Power Off function will be disabled so that the
instrument is not automatically turned off before the end of the ramp.

8.9 Switch Test

This function is used for thermostats and pressure switches’ calibrations, showing the status (Open or
Closed) of a dry contact or an energized one with maximum voltage of 24Vdc.

On the display it will be shown the contact’s status (Open or Closed) and the read value will be recorded
on the Input channel at the instant that the contact was opened or closed, displaying the difference between
the values (Hysteresis = Closed - Open).

9. MEMORY

This function is divided into two icons allocated in the Output Menu, Store and Recall, allowing up to 5
output configurations to be stored (Store) or recalled (Recall).

The output signal type and its respective value can be stored or recalled in 5 memory slots defined as
M1, M2, M3, M4, and M5.

These slots are useful to facilitate the adjustment in the instruments’ calibration, which have interac-
tive zero and span, in addition to providing other intermediate points for checking the calibration.

Stored values are retained in non-volatile flash memory.

To store the current output value in a memory space, just tap on the STORE icon, and on the following
screen tap on the memory slot icon to be used, and to retrieve and use a stored value as an output signal, just
tap on the RECALL icon and tap on the memory slot icon where the desired value is allocated:
