FIRE & OVERHEAT PROTECTION ATA 26

FIRE:
Engine: Zone 1: front & casing – incl 2 extinguisher bottles; Zone 2: core – shutdown to extinguish
Detection: 2 loops per zone
Fire handle: closes EAV, elec isolates IDG, elec closes EDP isol vlv, mech closes LP fuel vlv
Fire Test: activates: fire handle, L/H attention getters, ENG 1 FIRE, LOOP 1 FAULT, T/L lights,
Firebell; (cancel bell by pressing M/W, rest releasing test p/b)
OVERHEAT:
Pylon: 2 zones/pylon; 1: E-bleed...pre-cooler; 2: pre-cooler...rear of pylon
PYLON OVHT: temp > 195°C
Hemisphere: a/c divided into L & R zones, commencing with pylon zone 2
Wing leading edge & spine: temp sensor; wing duct: sensor loop
ZONE HI TEMP: temp > 120°C; auto OFF: 2x EAV + tail A/I vlv + wing A/I vlv + APU AIR vlv
TAIL HI TEMP: ohvt either side of A/I vlv; auto OFF: tail A/I vlv (leak may remain if before vlv)
REAR BAY HI TEMP: sensors next to A/C packs detect duct leak
Extinguishers: 5 portable; min 1500psi
Smoke detectors: 3; 1 in AVIH-bay, 1 in each toilet (yellow alarm light on outside door frame, no F/D alert)

OXYGEN ATA 35

FLIGHT CREW: gaseous; cylinder in fwd CGO (behind liner) @ 1850psi

overpressure: relief vlv vents o/board if press >2'800psi white blowout disk, red streamer
70psi constant pressure, vlv & gauge on F/O console
overpressure: relief vlv opens if press >100psi
modes: N = normal: mix according altitude; 100%: 100% O2; EMER: overpressure to purge mask
CABIN: chemical generation, constant flow, 80% ambient air
4/3/4 masks per PSU, 2/3/2 at F/A station & in each lavatory – total 142/132/156 masks
modes: AUTO: deploys masks when cabin ≥ 13'250ft (± 250ft) + pre-recorded PA announcement +
'fasten belt'
DROP OUT OVRD: switch on F/D to deploy masks at any altitude
key: to open each PSU
operation: activation: pull mask from unit
duration: 12'/22'/15', no shutoff possible – check green mark to confirm flow
PORTABLE: gaseous: 8/5 120ℓ bottles carried; HI = 4ℓ/min (30'), LO = 2ℓ/min (60' for INF only)

PNEUMATICS ATA 36

Source: from final HP compressor stage

EAV: Engine Air Valve; isolation & pressure reduction valve; pneumatically driven; fails shut
supply: 41psi & 200°C
vlv shut: switch OFF or Fire Handle pulled
ENG AIR FAULT = auto shut: overpressure or overtemp or fail
ENG AIR VALVE = NIPS
E 2 & 3 air: supply: HYD tank pressn & stall air pressn; 50psi
E 4 air: can replace APU air & does not trigger AIR SEL ON GND advisory
Shuttle vlv: interconnects bleed 1 & 4; supply: H2O tank pressn, outflow/discharge vlvs
APU air: supply: A/C, toilet flush, H2O tank pressn, outflow/discharge vlvs
not: HYD tanks, stall air reservoir, airframe ice protection
Ice Detector: AC motor driven serrated rotor + cutter; increased torque triggers caution
duration: min 60" or when leaving icing stops
outflow/discharge: vlvs fail closed
Limitations: APU air ON earliest 1' after APU avbl; OFF starting engines
No T/O or G/A with ENG AIR ON + ENG A/I ON
Air switching complete > 200ft agl
Toilet flush on L/H supply
