In these systems, raw water including surface water, ground water or sea water
may contain iron or alumimum colloids, silicone gel, organics or additive colloids,
which will block the surface of RO membrane. Differential pressure will increase
while water supply reduce and rate of desalination declines because of the
contaminants .

Therefore, prefiltration of sand filter and security filter are necessary in front of
RO membrane. Security filters will prevent collids or impurities(≥5um) from
entering the Ro membrane system. Security filters can reduce SDI data of
RO system inlet water and increase service life of RO membrane.
