What CRISPR??

A unique technology that allow scientist to edit

parts of genome by removing, adding and altering
DNA sequence.
CRISPR-CAS9
How It Works?

2 gRNA function to guide the

complex to the target
sequence. Then, they bind to
the matching genome DNA
sequence (target sequence).
1 CAS9 bind with guide
RNA (gRNA) to form a
complex named CRISPR-
CAS9.

4 Programmed DNA
maybe inserted at
the cut.
3 Cas9 acts like a scissor
and cuts the double
strand of the DNA.

Scientists are still working to determine

whether it is safe and effective for use
in people.
Application in It is being explored in research on a wide
variety of diseases, including single-gene

Biomedical disorders such as cystic fibrosis,

hemophilia, and sickle cell disease.

It also holds promise for the treatment

and prevention of more complex diseases,
such as cancer, heart disease, mental
illness, and human immunodeficiency virus
(HIV) infection.
