III. LESSONS AND ACTIVITIES:

A. MOTIVATION:

Let’s read and memorize this poem about God!

My Personal Prayer
God, grant me the strength to handle life's challenges,
In order to overcome these life long obstacles.
God, grant me the courage to stand up for what I believe in,
In order to express my true opinions without fear.
God, grant me the answers to my questions,
In order to find some understanding.
God, grant me the piece of mind I so desperately need,
In order to remain sane in this inside universe.
God, grant me the patience I thought I once had,
In order to with stand everything thrown to me.
God, grant me the guidance to be able to succeed,
In order to be whatever it is I want to be.
God, I need you now and forever, please help me.

B. LESSON:

The other leaders tried to find something wrong with Daniel. But they couldn’t.
Then the men . . . found him praying to God.
So they went back to the king. They said, “Didn’t you make a law? Anybody who doesn’t pray to you gets
thrown to the lions.”
So the king gave an order for Daniel to be brought in. then Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den.
As soon as morning came, the king . . . . called Daniel with a sad voice. “Daniel, could your God save you from
the lions?”
. . . Daniel called back. “My God sent his angel. He closed the lions’ mouths. They didn’t hurt me ….”
The king was very happy. He ordered his servants to take Daniel out of the den. They saw that he was not hurt
at all. That’s because he trusted God. Daniel 6:4, 11-12, 16, 19-23

WHAT IS HOPE? It’s more than just wishing the something would happen. It’s more than just wanting
something to happen. It’s being sure that something will happen. That’s because God always tells the
truth. And he always keeps his promises. So we trust him. We have hope. We know he will do what he
says. We look forward to seeing how he is going to work things out.
Daniel trusted God to take care of him. So Daniel had hope. Daniel knew that God makes everything turn
out for good. He does this for people who love him. So Daniel knew that no matter how bad things
seemed, God would work it out. And God did.

What do you trust God to do? Can you think of some of God’s promises? What do you hope for?

Dear God, thank you for your promises to take care of me. I trusted in you. And I put my hope in you.
