PARTICLE THEORY
● Particles in solid are arranged in roles with the particles touching each other.
● Particles in Liquid are arranged with the particles touching each other but not in
a pattern of rows.
● Particles in gas do not touch each other.

Particles in solid are held firmly by strong force of attraction, they can only vibrate but
they can’t move or change places.

Particles in liquids are held together by weaker forces of attraction, the particles can
move past each other.

Particles in gas are not attracted to each other, they can move freely.

The more energy particles have, the more they can move or vibrate.

When a solid goes into a liquid state it is called melting.

When a liquid goes into a gas state it is called boiling.
When gas goes into a liquid state it is called condensing.
When a liquid goes into a solid state it is called freezing.

DIFFUSION
Random Movements causing evenly spread are called Diffusion.
Diffusion also happens in gas, gas particles move more freely than the particles in
liquids.
BROWNIAN MOTION
Gasses and liquids are made up of tiny particles that move about all the time, bumping
into each other and changing directions. Eventually the random movement of the
particles causes them to spread out evenly.

When particles bump into each other they are made to move.

GAS PRESSURE
When gas particles are squeezed into small spaces, the particles will hit or collide with
the walls of the container which makes the gas pressure greater and increases the
pressure.

If you warm gas the particles will have more energy so they move more quickly causing
more pressure. Higher the temperature the more pressure there is.
