Ionic bond is defined as the electrostatic force of attraction holding the oppositely charged ions. Ionic
compounds are mostly crystalline solid having high melting and boiling points, electrical conductivity in
molten state, solubility in water etc. Covalent bond is defined as the force which binds atoms of same or
different elements by mutual sharing of electrons in a covalent bond. Covalent compounds are solids,
liquids or gases. They have low melting and boiling points compounds. They are more soluble in non-
polar solvents.

SECTION 3 (Maximum Marks: 12)

This section contains TWO (02) paragraphs. Based on each paragraph, there are TWO (02)
questions.
Each question has FOUR options. ONLY ONE of these four options corresponds to the correct
answer.
For each question, choose the option corresponding to the correct answer.
Answer to each question will be evaluated according to the following marking scheme:
Full Marks : +3 If ONLY the correct option is chosen.
Zero Marks : 0 If none of the options is chosen (i.e. the question is unanswered).
Negative Marks : −1 In all other cases.

Paragraph for Q11 & Q12

When a particle is projected at some angle with the horizontal, the path of the particle is parabolic. In the
process the horizontal velocity remains constant but the magnitude of vertical velocity changes. At any instant
during flight the acceleration of the particle remains g in vertically downward direction. During flight at any point
the path of particle can be considered as a part of circle and radius of that circle is called the radius of curvature
of the path.

Consider that a particle is projected with velocity u = 10 m/s at an angle  = 60º with the horizontal and take
value of g = 10 m/s2: Now answer the following questions.

Q11. The radius of curvature of path of particle at the instant when the velocity vector of the particle becomes
perpendicular to initial velocity vector is
20 10
(A) m (B) m
3 3 3 3
40 80
(C) m (D) m
3 3 3 3

Q12. The magnitude of acceleration of particle at that instant is

2
(A) 10 m/s (B) 5 3 m/ s2
2
(C) 5 m/s (D) 10 3 m / s2

up the plane with an acceleration a = 2 m/s2 F 30

(A) 50 N (B) 60 N
(C) 70 N (D) 80 N

Q14. The contact force between m1 & m2, when the blocks are moving up with an acceleration of 2 m/s2 up
the inclined, is
(A) 50 N (B) 48 N
(C) 49 N (D) 80 N

SECTION 4 (Maximum Marks: 12)

VALUE.
 For each question, enter the correct numerical value (in decimal notation, truncated/rounded‐off
to the second decimal place; e.g. 6.25, 7.00, 0.33, .30, 30.27, 127.30) using the mouse and

Again the equation is log 2  x  35  x   0
 x  35  x   1  x = 4
Thus choice (A), (C) are correct.

For 2 < x < 3, we get x  1  x  2  3  x  6  x  6, not possible.

Let Y1, Y2, Y3 be the distance of pulley, block B and block A from the a1 = 1 m/s2

Let m and M be the mass of blocks A and B  A P
respectively. Force of friction mAg
B
Now if P < mAg
Then, Block B will move in forward direction,
since P < mAg. So A can not slide over B.
So a will also move with B with same f A P
acceleration as that of B.
If P > mAg. f
Then Force acting of B will be mAg in
B
forward direction and force on a will be (P -
mAg).
So one P = mAg, after that B with move will
constant acceleration and if P increases a
