The Subway

1. The artist would like to convey with his artwork "the subway" that the painting shows the
woman as being anxious about a place where she is uncertain. You will see that she is in a
passageway. She is like going to a place where she would probably find a job. She is a
stranger in a strange place. She is surrounded by strange people with sad faces. If you look
closely at the painting, you will see the face of a woman who is anxious and terrified. Her
eyes are weary. She is afraid of men behind her back. She believes the men behind her would
harm her. She is uncertain of where she would go or whom she would trust.
2. The human behavior that we can see in this artwork is true to Filipinos; it is being a
woman who would do all things just for her family. Some women would go abroad to find a
job. Even if they were new to that place or that country, they would take the risk. They are
uncertain of their fate abroad. They endure bereavement in their family. Unfortunately, in the
Filipino culture, there are also stereotypes that women must stay at home, be expected to do
domestic tasks, that women are weak, and that women must listen to men to the point that
their voices can't be heard by many, and they also can't do what men can.

3. We can observe that the painting portrays gender inequality when we look at it as a whole.
Regardless, she is unsure about her journey and how men will describe her. She is bold
enough to stroll or pass through regardless of the circumstances, even if the men are strange
and she is unsure of whom she may trust. We shall be brave and courageous as women to
confront our journey, despite feeling frightened, afraid, and in pain at times due to other
people's opinions of us. They may discriminate against us simply because we are women, but
we will work hard to show them that we are capable of doing anything else. .

4. If I were the artist of this painting, I would say I could sell this in a range between
60,000 – 100,000 Pesos. The selling point of this artwork is.
