PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
MAPEFLOOR EPOXY TERRAZZO
SYSTEM G is a seamless epoxy resin
terrazzo floor system, combining a blend
of clear glass chippings for high aesthetic
demand floor finishes.
MAPEFLOOR EPOXY TERRAZZO
SYSTEM G is composed of the epoxy
binder MAPEFLOOR I 302 SL mixed
with silica sand powder QUARTZ 0.25
and QUARTZ 0.5 and the dedicated
glass aggregates MAPEFLOOR
TERRAZZO AGGREGATE G.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1. Substrate analysis
Before applying MAPEFLOOR
EPOXY TERRAZZO SYSTEM G,
the substrate on which the coating is
to be applied must be carefully
analysed.
The concrete or cementitious screed
for the substrate must be sound,
compact, strong and clean and must
be dimensioned according to the static
and dynamic loads to which it will be
subjected when in service. The flatness
must be defined according to the final
use.
To achieve the best results, there
must be no materials, debris or
contaminations left on the substrate
which could potentially affect the

adhesion of the coating, such as:-
• cement laitance;
• dust or detached or loose materials;
• protective waxes, curing products,
paraffin or efflorescence;
• oil stains or layers of dirty resin;
• traces of paint or chemical products.
Any other kind of material or substance
that could affect adhesion of the
coating must be removed before
starting work. If such materials or
substances are present, the substrate
must be prepared by carrying out a
specific preparation cycle. Please
contact Mapei Technical Services for
advice and information.
The substrate pull-off strength must
be achieved minimum 1.5 MPa. The
substrate’s moisture content shall not
be more than 4%. A proper moisture
barrier system shall be placed prior
to the application of MAPEFLOOR
EPOXY TERRAZZO SYSTEM G.
If all the above conditions are met,
MAPEFLOOR EPOXY TERRAZZO
SYSTEM G may be applied on
concrete floors, conventional or
polymer-modified cementitious screeds
and shrinkage-compensated screeds
such as those made from MAPECEM,
TOPCEM or TOPCEM PRONTO.
2. Substrate preparation
It is very important that the surface
is prepared as specified to ensure
correct application and the best
performance of MAPEFLOOR EPOXY
TERRAZZO SYSTEM G.
The most suitable method to prepare
the surface is by shot-blasting,
taking care not to go too deep into
the substrate. Any defects present,
such as holes, pitting, cracking, etc.,
must be repaired beforehand using
either EPORIP or PRIMER SN or
MAPEFLOOR I 302 SL, depending
on the width and depth of the defects
and cracks.
If the substrate needs to be
consolidated, use PRIMER MF.
If there are deep hollows or highly
deteriorated areas on the substrate,
repair these areas beforehand
using MAPEFLOOR EP19, three-
component epoxy mortar, or with
products from the MAPEGROUT line,
which may also be used to integrate

The surrounding temperature must be
higher than +8°C and the temperature
of the substrate must be at least 3°C
higher than the dew-point temperature.
If any of the above conditions are not
strictly adhered to, the quality of the
coating may be poor.
3. Priming the substrate
Mix the components of PRIMER SN
with a low-speed mechanical stirrer
until a homogeneous mix is obtained.
Add 20% by weight of QUARTZ
0.25 and re-mix until homogeneous.
Pour the mixed PRIMER SN onto
the floor surface and spread it by
means of a straight steel trowel, then
fully broadcast the wet surface with
QUARTZ 1.0 or 1.2. Once the
PRIMER SN has hardened, remove
the excess quartz by sweeping and
vacuuming.
4. Applying MAPEFLOOR EPOXY
TERRAZZO SYSTEM G
Mix the components of MAPEFLOOR
I 302 SL with a low-speed mechanical
stirrer until a homogeneous mix
is obtained. Pour the prepared
MAPEFLOOR I 302 SL into a
suitable epoxy mortar mixer, then add
MAPECOLOR PASTE and mix until
a homogeneous mixture is achieved. If
pre-pigmented MAPEFLOOR I 302
SL is used, MAPECOLOR PASTE
must not be added. Then add the
silica sand mixture of QUARTZ 0.25
and QUARTZ 0.5 and the mixture
of glass aggregates MAPEFLOOR
TERRAZZO AGGREGATE G
while mixing. For each 20kg kit of
MAPEFLOOR I 302 SL, add 10kg
of QUARTZ 0.25, 10kg of QUARTZ
0.5 and 44kg of MAPEFLOOR
TERRAZZO AGGREGATE G.

Mix MAPEFLOOR I 302 SL, silica
sand and glass aggregates until a
homogeneous mixture is achieved. The
mixture is then poured onto the primed
surface and spread by means of a
straight-edge trowel, etc. The minimum
thickness is 7mm.
After the resin has hardened, polishing
operations can take place. Use suitable
diamond grinder equipment and
tools. During polishing operations, the
application of MAPEFLOOR I 910 as
pore filler may be required.
During polishing operation, the floor
surface must be maintained wet
to avoid black marks due to high
temperatures triggered by the high-
speed rotating tools. In case some
profiles have to be placed to obtain
specific drawings or to divide different
areas with different colours, it is
advisable to use either PVC or brass or
aluminium profile for better result of the
final polished surface.
5. Hardening and step-on times
At +25°C, MAPEFLOOR EPOXY
TERRAZZO SYSTEM G sets to foot
traffic after 16 hours, may be used
by light loads after 1 to 2 days and is
ready for final use once fully hardened
after approximately 7 days. Lower
temperatures lead to longer hardening
and step-on times.

Primer:
PRIMER SN (A + B) 0.3 - 0.7 kg/m2
QUARTZ 0.25 0.06 - 0.14 kg/m2
Broadcast:
QUARTZ 1.0 or 1.2 1 - 1.5 kg/m2
The actual consumption of the primer
is influenced by substrate’s porosity
and absorption, temperature, job-site
conditions, etc.

The actual consumption is influenced
by the substrate and job site
conditions.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
MAPEFLOOR EPOXY TERRAZZO
SYSTEM G must be treated with
MAPELUX LUCIDA or MAPELUX
OPACA to make the surface easier to
clean and maintain.
Regular cleaning and maintenance
operations increase the life of a
coated floor, improves its aesthetic
properties and reduces its tendency
to collect dirt. Floors created using
MAPEFLOOR SYSTEMS are
generally easy to wash with neutral
detergents, or with alkali detergents
diluted at a concentration of 5% to
10% in water. Special detergents and
cleaning tools are readily available for
cleaning resin floors. Manufacturers
of these detergents supply all the
information required for the cleaning
procedures to apply. Our Technical

Store in a dry, sheltered place in
original, unopened packaging.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR
PREPARATION AND APPLICATION
Component A of PRIMER SN
and MAPEFLOOR I 302 SL may
cause skin and eye irritation, while
Component B of MAPEFLOOR I 302
SL is corrosive and may cause burns.
Components A and B of PRIMER
SN and MAPEFLOOR I 302 SL
may cause skin sensitization to those
predisposed. During the mixing and
application of the products, it is
recommended to use protective gloves
and goggles and to take the usual
precautions for handling chemicals.
