PREFACE

The importance of computer literacy for each Cameroonian citizen is strongly related to the fact that the world today is computer driven. Computer studies
therefore become an imperative for all citizens in the world and specifically in our country. Therefore, schools that neglect this essential discipline are
actually placing their students, teachers and administrators at a great disadvantage in a new world order. However, introducing Computer studies in our
educational system is not an easy task because of the limitations in the areas of funding for equipment and the training of educational partners that are
necessary for a good start.
One of the consequences of the introduction of computer studies in our educational system is the teaching of the subject in a difficult context by teachers of
other disciplines. This is why the use of the scheme of work as well as all other pedagogical facilities in the teaching process is an absolute necessity to help
achieve the computer studies syllabus objectives. Thus each computer studies teacher is advised to make good use of this present scheme of work to have
their computer studies lessons correctly aligned with the state standards.
The different rubrics (topics, lessons, objectives, guidance notes, materials, duration …) contained in this scheme of work will guide the teacher prepare their
lesson plans during the whole academic year. It’s now left for the teacher to do research and to bring innovations that can help him adapt his teaching
strategies to his school context. As effective teachers you should keep in mind that this first edition may be updated in a nearest future and so you too should
suggest improvements to it.
We wish to thank all teachers who participated in the drawing up of these schemes of work as well as all authors whose works and resources we consulted.
