materials and testing lab.
UNIVERSAL TESTING MACHINE
An instrument so designed that is
capable of exerting a tensile,
compressive or transverse stress on a
specimen under test.

SIEVE SET
A sieve, or sifter, is a device for
separating wanted elements from
unwanted material or for
characterizing the particle size
distribution f a sample (aggregates,
sand and other soil particles.
SLUMP CONE
A metal mold in the form of a
truncated cone with a top diameter
of 4” (102mm), a bottom diameter of
8” (203mm), and a height of 12”
(305mm), used to fabricate the
specimen for a slump test.
HYDROMETER
A hydrometer is an instrument used
to measure the specific gravity (or
relative density) of liquids; that is,
the ratio of the density of the liquid
to the density of water.
CONCRETE MIXER
A concrete mixer (also commonly
called a cement mixer) is a device
that homogeneously combines
cement, aggregate such as sand or
gravel and water to form concrete.

PREASURE GAUGE
Many techniques have been
developed for the measurement of
 pressure. Instruments used to
measure pressure are called pressure
gauges.

VIBRATOR
A vibrator is a mechanical device to
generate vibrations. The vibration is
often generated by an electric motor
with an unbalanced mass on its
driveshaft.

A laboratory thermometer is used to

THERMOMETER measure the boiling point and
freezing point during science
experiments. It is also used to
measure the temperature of
substances.

SHOVEL

Shovel is a tool used to dig as well

as to move loose, granular materials
(like dirt, gravel, grain, or snow)
from one spot to another. 

WEIGHING SCALE
An accurate weighing scale is
helpful in design and construction
projects. Monitoring stock levels is
essential when maintaining your
supply of building and design
products. Inadequate stock supply
can stop the project from
 proceeding. 
CONICAL MOLD & TAMPER
Used for determination of bulk and
apparent specific gravity and
absorption of fine aggregate. Also, to
find out whether the fine aggregates
is in saturated surface dry condition.
