Use this free crochet pattern to make your own Santa Baby Hat in

I used Patons Astra in Red, Black and White
3.5 mm (E/4) hook
tapestry needle
stitch marker

Terms
sc – single crochet
scblo – single crochet in the back loop only
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet

Hat Pattern
The hat is worked in continuous rounds. Do not join at the end of a
round, continue working in a spiral. Make sure to mark your rst or
last stitch to keep track of where your rounds start and end.

0-3 Months – Fits 14” circumference, 5.5” height

23 g (0.8 oz), 67 m (73 yds)

Starting with red yarn,

Rnd 1: Start with a magic ring, ch 1, and 10 hdc into ring (10 hdc)

Rnd 2: 2 hdc in each st (20 hdc)

Rnd 3: (2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st), repeat around (30 hdc)

Rnd 4: (2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next 2 st) repeat around(40 hdc)

Rnd 5: (2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next 3 st) repeat around (50 hdc)
Rnd 6: (2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next 9 st) repeat around (55 hdc)

Rnd 7: 1 hdc in each st (55 hdc)

Rnd 8-14: repeat rnd 7 (55 hdc)

Sc in the next st, sl st in the next st.

Join black yarn to the last hdc of the previous round

rnd 15: ch 1, sc in each st (55 sc), join with a sl st, cut yarn

Join red yarn to the last sc of the previous round


rnd 16: ch 1, sc in each st (55 sc), join with a sl st, cut yarn

Weave in your ends. See below for the edging.

3-6 Months – Fits 16” circumference, 5.75” height

Join black yarn to the last hdc of the previous round

rnd 18: ch 1, sc in each st (62 sc), join with a sl st, cut yarn

Join red yarn to the last sc of the previous round

rnd 19: ch 1, sc in each st (62 sc), join with a sl st, cut yarn

6-12 Months – Fits 18” circumference, 7.25” height

Starting with red yarn,

Rnd 1: Start with a magic ring, ch 1, and 10 hdc into ring (10 hdc)

Rnd 2: 2 hdc in each st (20 hdc)

Rnd 3: (2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st), repeat around (30 hdc)

Rnd 4: (2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next 2 st) repeat around(40 hdc)

Rnd 5: (2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next 3 st) repeat around (50 hdc)

Rnd 6: (2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next 4 st) repeat around (60 hdc)
Rnd 7: (2 hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next 5 st) repeat around (70 hdc)

Sc in the next st, sl st in the next st.

Join black yarn to the last hdc of the previous round

rnd 20: ch 1, sc in each st (72 sc), join with a sl st, cut yarn

Join red yarn to the last sc of the previous round

rnd 21: ch 1, sc in each st (72 sc), join with a sl st, cut yarn

Weave in your ends. See below for the edging.

Edging
Change to white yarn, and join with a sl st to any stitch around the
edge of your hat.

Row 1: ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, and each ch across (9 sc)


row 2: sl st into the next 2 stitches along the edge of the hat, turn
and scblo in each st (9)

row 3: ch 1, turn, scblo in each st (9)

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you have worked around the whole hat.
Sl st the edges together and weave in any ends.
 

Pom-Pom
Wrap yarn around your hand about 60-80 times.

Slide the yarn off your hand and tie the middle tightly.
Cut the loops and sculpt the pom-pom as desired.

Attach to the top of your hat.
