What is Digital Printing?

The Digital Printing Process is the way of transferring an image or a design on

different media. Medium can be plastic, paper, acrylic and fabric. It is easier than
other Traditional Printing method. Because it consumes less time and no difficulty in
preparing and executing the printing. It can save time, and if you are making a mass
production and yet quality output, Digital Printing is the best choice. But Digital can
be more expensive because you will be needing high technologies for printing itself.

What is Digital Printing Process?

Since Digital printing can be performed on different mediums I will be explaining it in

General.

Step by Step Process of Digital Printing Process

Step1: Finalizing the Design

When you finalize the design you need to make sure that you are saving it in an
appropriate format with exact resolution and size, so that we can avoid the
distortion of the design and quality errors.

Step2: Printer Maintenance

Before we start the printing process , we need to make sure that the print heads are
clean and properly working. To do that special fluid will be put to the print heads to
make sure that it won’t become dry and damage. We need to repeat the application
fluid every 100 prints so that we can ensure that there is no leakage of ink. Also
there is a small container for the waste ink so when the ink spills out it will not go to
the printer.

Step3: Preparing of the Design

When everything was checked and ready to print, the next thing to do is to prepare
where the design will be print out. It is to make sure if the design is perfectly fit to
the medium.

Step4: Choosing the Size of the Pallet

In printing the actual design in the medium, we will be needing a pallet that holds
the medium. So that the product will be stable during the printing process. It is
necessary to use exact size of pallet to avoid errors in printing, mostly the distortion
of the design.
Step5: Laying the Materials
In this step this is where you lay the materials or product to be printed on in a
flat surface. Making sure that it is stable and no folds on the surface, because once
the surface has folds and marks the design will be completely damage.

Step6: Actual Printing

In this step the printer starts to print the design on the actual material that
was prepared earlier. The print heads will start moving side-to-side to digitally
execute the design on the material. You just need to wait a moment to finish the
printing process.

Step7: Drying
After the print was done, the printed material or medium will be carefully
removed from the pallet, and it needs to be place on a dry area or a dryer. This is to
fasten the drying phase of the ink, and to make sure that the wet ink will not be
smudge and spread to the entire material.

Step8: Quality Check (Last Step)

When the print is fully dry the last thing you need to do is the Quality Check.
Checking if there are errors, minimal mistakes, unwanted ink spread or other
distortion on the design. And once you are already satisfied to the outcome just
repeat the steps for the mass production.
