0 THE CREATION PROCESS

There are 7 steps in the creation process of the product which consist of idea generation,
research, planning, prototyping, sourcing, costing, and finally commercialization. The
creation process ensures the business can provide good quality of product or services. Apart
from that, the business can put their idea into reality in a systematic way by using the creation
process.

Idea Generation Research Planning

Costing Sourcing Prototyping

Commercialization

1. Idea Generation
During this phase, stakeholders take place by joining into brainstorming and provide
ideas for product innovation. We also put few things into consideration which include
the challenges and barriers that we might face and other variables in producing the air
purifier filter.

2. Research
In the research phase, we talk about this idea to our family members and friends to get
feedback from them and conducted an online survey to the public to get feedback
from them. From the survey, we found out that majority of the respondents shows
positive response to the innovation of photocatalytic and cellulose air purifier filter.

3. Planning
Then, we proceed to the planning phase. In this phase, we plan to start by setting up
temporary outlet at few potential locations to let interested customers visit us to try
the air purifier and to provide them the details of the filter in it.
4. Prototyping
Next, we created few demo units for each outlet to use it for demonstration purpose.
Two stakeholders will be appointed to each outlet to brief and demonstrate the air
purifier.

5. Sourcing
In this phase, our team start to source the material needed to produce the filter which
are cellulose (contains in coconut fibre, durian husk, wastepaper) and photocatalytic
material.

6. Costing
After completing the previous phase of work, we did costing for the product as we
have already have a clearer picture in determining the cost and setting the retail price
for the product as well as the profit that we will make.

7. Commercialization
In this phase, marketing department will be responsible to commercialize the product.
The marketing team will launch the product and promote it to the customer.

The product that we innovate is the photocatalytic and cellulose air purifier filter. Firstly, we
will collect the cellulose source which are coconut fibre, durian waste husk, and wastepaper.
Next, we will extract cellulose from the collected sources by using chemicals. Then, we will
take the filter material and soaked it with the extracted cellulose which is in a liquid form.
After that, the filter will be dried for 48 hours to ensure that the filter material is totally
waterless. Then, each filter will be brushed with the photocatalytic material for two to three
layers to ensure it is evenly coated. Then, it will go through another round of drying process.
After that, all the filters will be folded into a fixed pattern, and it will be cut into the size that
will fit in the filter. Then, the filter will then be placed in the filter case. The process will be
the same for the first, second and forth layer of filter by replacing it into different pore size
filter material except for the third layer of filter as it is HEPA filter, the material in HEPA
filter is unreplaceable.
