INTRODUCTION

2. The Electronic Warfare plays a vital role in military operations by enhancing

the effective use of electronic and communication devices while reducing the
effectiveness of enemies use of such devices. In the modern world there are very
sophisticated and complex EW systems used by Armies in many developed countries.
In Sri Lanka Army, the responsible authority for the EW is the EW Squadron of
Signal Brigade. They have played a vital role in humanitarian war by providing
services such as locating terrorists’ communication equipment, jamming, interfering
and assisting Artillery in target acquiring.

3. But almost all the equipment used by the EW Squadron are outdated and are
using very old technologies. Because of this, each equipment should be handled by a
human and interchanging of data between equipment is done manually. This is a time-
consuming process where it takes big time gap between detection and reaction which
may cause a huge disadvantage for the troops on ground. Also, human errors can
highly effect for the reliability in the process making decisions.

4. Therefore, this research focuses on the study of existing EW system and

finding the possibility and feasibility of integrating these equipment in order to build a
combined autonomous system which will work under the supervision of human being.
Further, AI technology will be assisted in order to build a self decision making
system.
