POWER POINT: CHAPTER 1 INSTRUCTIONS AND EXAMPLE

CREATING POWER POINTS THAT HAVE THEMES, ONLINE IMAGES, TRANSITIONS &
SOUND

You work for a local consumer safety organization and are required to create a Power
Point Presentation about fire prevention best practices. One of your coworkers has sent
you a WORD document with the important information you must copy and paste into the
slide show. It was agreed that you add relevant fire prevention images into all four slides.
Additional images can be obtained from online and inserted into whichever slide you wish.
You are expected to apply an appropriate design theme and add different transitions and
sound effects to all slides. The primary goal is to impress the audience as well as deliver
useful fire prevention information in the process. Therefore, follow the instructions below:

1. Open a new blank Power Point file.

2. Open the FirePrevention.docx.
3. Make slide 1 the active slide and apply an attractive Design Theme of your choosing
to the presentation. Unique and creative themes can be obtained from online if
preferred.
4. Copy and paste the main headings and all other text into each of the 4 blank slides.
(see example on the next pages)
5. Copy and paste the preferred fire prevention images to the respective slides. (see
example on the next pages)
6. Insert at least two online fire prevention images of your choosing to the respective
slides.
7. Position the text and resize the images on the respective slides so that each slide
show looks very professional and is easy to follow.
8. Apply two different subtle transition effects, (either cut, fade, push, wipe….or
another one you prefer) to the first two slides and two different exciting transition
effects, (either Fall Out, drapes, Curtains Wind….or another one of you prefer) to
last two slides.
9. Add one or more sound effects to all slides.
10. Save and close the Power Point Presentation with the name FirePrevention_XX.
(replaced XX with your initials)
11. Upload the modified slides on Moodle. See example on the next page.
Note: Your slide show will look slightly different based on the preferred slide theme,
different images and color used.
