Influencers should have a small amount of influence on the population.

Sure they

should promote companies or brands but representing brands is where I think

companies should draw the line. For example Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and

Reese Witherspoon encouraged crypto currency and supported the people who bought

or invested in crypto. Inevitably, crypto ended up crashing and for obvious reasons,

people were pretty upset that celebrities encouraged them to burn their money. This

obviously causes a major dent in the celebrity’s popularity and trust with the general

population.

I think that rather than using celebrities as a form of advertisement, companies

should use methods that would be less “expendable” in a sense. Expendable meaning

there is not much at risk if the company fails and consumers lose money, like crypto

currency. Using someone as an ad campaign would put them at risk for losing their

career by less reliability and a sense of cheapskate if a company represented by a

celebrity fails. Another way a celebrity’s career could be hurt by advertising for a

company, is people could perceive you as desperate for attention or low on money. For

a celebrity, this could be perceived as failure to their followers or the media.
