SORTING WORKSHEETS
What are sorting worksheets?
Sort it Out! is a NO PREP, color, cut, glue and sort worksheets. Sorting
is a very important concept to teach students. By sorting, students:
• Learn how things are alike and different

• Develop numerical concepts
• Enhance vocabulary development
• Develop their analytical skills
What’s included in these sort worksheets?
Each worksheet comes with a sorting mat, sort pictures and an

answer key.
How have you used this resource in your classroom?
I used these worksheets a variety of ways and during different

contents.
Assessment – At the end of a unit, I have students complete a

sorting worksheet to see if they have mastered the skill that I taught
them.
Literacy Centers – The phonics worksheets can be used during

literacy centers. For the phonics worksheets, you can laminate and
put in a center for repeated practice.
Math Centers – Some of the math worksheets you can use in a math
center. You can print and laminate and put in a center. You can
also have students complete some sorts in their math journals.
SORT IT OUT! Sorting Worksheets
Students will sort the pictures according to the categories.
Sorting and classifying objects

not only teaches students about
relationships between concepts
and attributes, but it also
stimulates thinking logically and
applying rules.
So, let’s get our students sorting!
Some sorts come with pictures

and/or photographs. Decide
which one you want your
students to use.
If you choose to use the

photograph sorts, I recommend
that you print in grayscale and
then make copies.
Pictures – Have students color,

cut, sort and glue the pictures in
the correct column.
I recommend reviewing the

pictures or photographs with the
students before they complete
the worksheets independently.
For students that are ready

and/or capable, have them
complete the challenge at the
bottom of the page.
