SUBJECT: CDI 401- TECHNICAL ENGLISH 2 – (LEGAL FORMS)

I. Intended Learning Outcome (ILO):

This lesson will enhance the understanding of the students in the criminal investigation units, the
arrangement of the material presented in an investigation report (acronymed as IR) follows a certain
pattern. The idea is for the report to be easy to read.

II. Learning Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:


1. Understand the different sections of the Investigation Report (IR);
2. State the idea in the preparation of the different section in the Investigation Report?
3. Develop the knowledge on how to construct or formulate an Investigation Report.

III. Teaching – Learning Activity/ Lesson Proper:


LESSON 3

 Progress Reports
- A Progress Report has a follow-up effect. Is this a follow-up of initial report previously sent?
Or is this a follow-up of an investigation made, submitted ahead? Or is this merely a follow-
up a project, a program?
- A progress report is a report in which you are updating information about a project.
Progress Report make it possible for management and clients to stay informed about a
project and to change or adjust assignments or schedules.
 Main purpose of progress report:
- The purpose of Progress Report is to give clarity on the progress of a report, not to describe
every single aspect about What’s currently happening in the project.
 Three (3) types of Progress Report:
- There are three major formats for a progress report:
1. Memorandum- which is short and is only used for reports within an organization.
2. Letter or Email- which is short and can be used for reports within or outside an
organization.
3. Formal Report- which is longer and is generally used for reports shared outside an
organization.
 Special Report:
- It attempts to elaborate, explain, or exhibits in a prescribe fashion certain sections, accounts
or items of a financial statement.
 Purpose of a Special Report:
- Are collection of research notes that address a particular business or IT topic or issue our
clients are facing.

IV. Enhancement Activity/ Outcome:

Each student would be assigned to formulate simple example of How Progress Report is made.
V. Practice Task/ Assessment:
1. Define Investigation Report.
2. Enumerate the five (5) sections in the Investigative Report, explain it briefly.
3. Why is Progress Report important?

VI. Assignments:
1. What is a Beat Inspection Report after Patrol Report?
2. What is a Situation Report?
3. Define Format Report.
