ACTIVITY # 2 .1 EARTHQUAKE

Guide Questions for Discussion Based on the video:

♦ What is an earthquake? Why do they occur?

An earthquake is caused by a sudden slip on a fault. The tectonic plates are always slowly
moving. But they get stuck at their edges due to friction, when the stress on the edge there is
an earthquake that releases energy in waves that travel through the earth’s crust and caused
the shaking that we feel.

♦ What should people do if there is an earthquake?

We people we should do know during an earthquake is we must stay inside, Drop under
heavy furniture such as a table , desk,bed or any solid furniture, Cover our head and torso to
prevent being hit by falling objects if we are on outdoors we must stay outside and go to open
space or open field away from buildings and also if you are on your vehichle Stop the car and
stay inside. And also do not attempt to get out of your car if downed power lines are across it .
wait to be rescued. And also prepared some foods to be need and also flashlight with extra
batteries and charger for your cellphone incased of lowbat and etc.

♦ How can we be prepared? What to do during and after an earthquake.?

Just simple the First thing to do is Practice Drop, Cover and Hold On with your family,
relatives, friends, or may be your coworker it is before an earthquake. And also during an
earthquake if you are on Mountainous Area – watch out for falling rock, landslides, trees,
and other debris that could be loosened by quakes. And if you near in the Ocean you must
see the safety rules from NOAA’s Tsunami Warning Center. And after an earthquake wear
sturdy shoes to avoid injury from broken glass and debris. Expect aftershocks. And also check
for hazards like fire hazards, gas leaks, spills fallen items, check food and water supplies, etc.
and check also for the injured person or injuries and the like.

♦ What should an emergency plan and kit include?

The first thing to do is we make a emergency kit and on the inside of it is there are some
critical components that we must sealed in a kit include like water, foods like an granola bars,
protein bars, Spam,beans soup, tuna,vegetables, dried fruits, nuts, chocolate, and the like and
also the medication, of course cash and also for the communication supplies like extra cell
phone battery ( charged), charger, power bank and for safety supplies like area maps that we
make a route out to the center that we are stayin in and Dust mask and the whistle and also
flashlight and for cleaning supplies like all purpose cleaning solution and Mop and also for
lighting like lightsticks and also for hygiene like deodorant, cleaning wipes tooth brush, tooth
paste and floss and also first aid kit ( very importantly) and also sleeping supplies NOTED: if
we are on the evacuation Area like tents, Pillows, Blankets, and sleeping surfaces like mats or
inflatable mattresses.
