Keeping Up With The New Normal

INTRODUCTION

One thing is certain: we all know how difficult it is to adjust to change. Change is unavoidable

and an integral aspect of being human, whether it is intentional or unexpected, gradual or abrupt.

COVID-19 has caused an enormous transformation in our way of life during the last few months.

Who'd have guessed that toilet paper might become as valuable as gold before the pandemic?

And now, even going to the grocery store weekly feels like an adventure in and of itself! We've

reluctantly let go of our old routine and are now settling into what appears to be our new routine.

THE CHANGES

 Depending on where you reside in the globe, masks and gloves may be typical.

 Queuing has become the norm, whether it's for medical appointments, shopping,

or simply getting into an elevator.

 With social separation in effect and people donning masks and gloves, public

transportation looks extremely different.

 When we hear someone cough, sneeze, or sniffle, we do a double-take. We've

been conditioned to be hypervigilant for these signs over the past two years, but

ideally this means that improved standards of hand and personal cleanliness will

persist.
 The little details that make up our community have shifted. Due to the pandemic,

there are no more sausage sizzles at Bunnings, no community sports, no lingering

over breakfast with pals at the neighborhood cafes, and salons have closed. We're

hoping that our local small businesses - hairdressers, barbers, cafés, restaurants,

health professionals, newsagents, and boutiques - make it through

 Education as we know it has undergone a transformation. Schools and universities

have gone online, with some combining face-to-face and online classes. The lack

of international students is having an influence on universities all around the

world. Conferences will be delayed, and foreign partnerships and sabbaticals will

look significantly different this year than they did in prior years.

 Work has also changed as a result of social isolation. Many of us began working

from home in order to reduce our reliance on public transportation and the need to

congregate in groups at the workplace. Zoom meetings have even become the

new normal for us. With the constraints loosening, we may return to working in

shifts at the workplace or embrace working from home on a more regular basis.

 Social Distancing. There will be no more squeezing into small spaces when we all

need a personal bubble of over a meter. We've said our goodbyes to attending

concerts, plays, movies, festivals, museums, and other events for the time being,

but we hope to see them again soon.

 For their own good, I'm not seeing my loved ones. We're staying away from

elderly parents and grandparents, pregnant friends or new parents, and individuals

with health issues that make them more prone to coronavirus. This was especially

difficult for everyone at a time when being connected is more crucial than ever.
CONCLUSION

But, because the pandemic has been going on for over three years, everyone has become

accustomed to this type of situation, even if we still miss our previous lifestyle. However, there

is some good news: we are gradually returning to our previous manner, which we prefer more.

Without a question, the outbreak has been a struggle for everyone, but because humans are made

to adapt to everything, we have managed to maintain a fair quality of life despite the pandemic.
