Welcome to TLE - Beauty Care 7/8

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of


the Schools Division of Negros Occidental and DepEd Regional Office VI -
Western Visayas through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division
(CLMD). This is developed to guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents
and responsible adults)in helping the learners meet the standards set by the K
to 12 Basic Education Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials


aimed to guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and
time using the contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist
the learners in acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for
productivity and employment.

For learning facilitator:

The TLE - Beauty Care 7/8 Activity Sheet will help you facilitate the
teaching-learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning
Competency (MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you
and learner. This will be made available to the learners with the references/links
to ease the independent learning.

For the learner:

continue learning even if you are not in school. This learning material provides
youwith meaningful and engaging activities for independent learning. Being an
active learner, carefully read and understand the instructions then perform the
activities andanswer the assessments. This will be returned to your facilitator on

II. Background Information for Learners


When selecting a nail shape its essential to familiarize yourself with different
options available Although there are many variations and silhouettes on offer,
there are keys shapes you should know; Square, round, oval, squoval, and
pointed/stilleto.

III. Direction: Read and understand the key concepts presented in


Information Sheet 1.1 and answer the activities on your answer sheet.

SHAPES OF NAIL

The shapes of your nail should conform to your fingertips. Below are the
different shapes of the nail:

1. Oval Nail - It is common among people with long, perfect nail beds. It may
be styled slightly rounded at the base and slightly pointed at the fingertips. Most
often this type of nail has a natural look and looks very good in short-medium
length.
2. Square nail - It is created by allowing the nail to grow out straight and then
filing the tip straight across at right angles with the rest of the nail plate.
3. Round Nail - This is ideal for shorter nails. The nail is ideal to grow out at the
sides for approximately 1.5 mm and then the tip is filed into a rounded shape.
This is a strong shape which is great for those who keep their nails short.
4. Squoval Nail - The squoval nail is a square nail but the softer edges of an
oval.
5. Pointed Nail - A pointed nail is filed away at the sides to a point at the tip;
this shape is very weak as the sides of the nail (which provide the strength) are
totally lost.

Activity 2. IDENTIFY ME
Directions: Identify the nail shape being described by the statement. Write the
answer on the space provided before the number. Use a separate sheet of paper.
__________1. This shape is very weak as the sides of the nail (which provide the
strength) are totally lost.
__________2. This shape is those that want the square shape but with the comfort
of rounded nails.
__________3. This is a strong shape which is great for those who keep their nails
short.

Activity 3. TRIM AND SHAPE


Direction: Following the proper techniques and procedure in trimming and
shaping the fingernails, trim your nails and shape with the 5 Basic nail shapes
each fingernails. Take picture of your finished output and send to your teacher
through messenger or print on a short size bond paper with proper label. Refer
