NAME: Antiporda, Tonirose S.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. How great is the impact of global interstate system to our country?
Answer: I believe that the global interstate system have a great impact on our country
specifically to our economy and trade industry. The system does not only help states to form
and develop an alliance but it also aids with the country's economic growth by expanding
business opportunities between them and putting investments. The allied states can also
make an agreement to loosen their trade restrictions by lowering tariffs and conferring to each
other's preferred trade status. Though the primary reason of the relation of states are for
military and diplomatic purposes, its nature and focus has been changing due to globalization.
Wherein states strengthen their relationship to sustain their economic growth and have a good
political relationship with other countries or international institutions for other substantial
benefits.

2. What were the challenges of globalization?

Answer: Globalization may bring numerous advantages to us and to our country, however
globalization also face some challenges which can be detrimental to people. Some of these
challenges are listed below:
a.) Worker Exploitation - One of the most challenging negative effects of globalization includes
the exploitation of the workers. With international companies branching out to other countries
specifically to developing countries, though it is beneficial to the country’s economy, local
workers however are usually exposed to high degrees of exploitation.
b.) Environmental Degradation – With the global warming, globalization also contributes to the
environmental issues. As the flow of goods and production continues to increase the
environment suffers from the adverse effects of these business activities.
c.) Taxes and Trading Laws Across Borders - Different countries or states have their own tax
authorities and unique regulations on what taxes need to be paid, how, to whom, and when.
Thus businesses must do their research in order to stay on the right side of the law wherever
the business operates.

3. Does media plays a great influence in our national election? How?

Answer: Yes, I do believe that the media has a great influence in our national election.
Because voters needs information to make educated decisions, and the media is one of the
sources of those information. The media also has the power to lead the public opinion on a
certain candidate by their “biased or unbiased” reports. The use of social media to spread
information and as a tool for campaign is also prevalent during the recent national election.

4. What are the contributing factors that make your city/municipality(name of city or
municipality) a global city/municipality?
Answer: We’re all aware that Pasig City is one of the most highly urbanized city in the
Philippines, also known as the “Green City” where it strives to maintain the operation of its
central business districts while sustaining the low-carbon, climate-resilient future.

5. What strategies can you use to distinguish between fake and factual information on the
internet?
Answer: The development of technology makes the search of information easier. However the
vast sources of information has a drawback because if the source is not thoroughly checked
you can be a victim of misinformation or fake news. The following are some of my strategies
on how to distinguish between fake and factual information
a.) Check the Source – Check the credibility of the source, pay attention to the link’s
domain such as .edu, .gov., .com, .org etc. Also scrutinize the author’s biases and
purpose on writing the document or article.
b.) Search for Other Sources – You should also look for other sources before publishing
or sharing it to others to avoid the chain of misinformation.
c.) Investigate the Article – Look into the article itself, check if the sources or evidences
presented is credible and also check if the article is up to date.

REACTION PAPER:

1. Economic integration does better than harm? Explained?

Answer: Yes, I believe that economic integration does better than harm. This kind of
arrangement between nations is beneficial in many ways as the countries in agreement aims
to reduce costs for both consumers and producers and to increase trade transactions with
each other. Economic Integration aims to reduce the costs of trade, improve the availability of
goods and services, and increase consumer purchasing power in member nations. It also
helps with the political cooperation or relationship amongst the countries. However, despite
the benefits, it also has a disadvantages. Some of these are the diversion of trade, erosion of
national sovereignty and employment shifts and reductions.
2. Are you in favor of replacing person’s picture in our paper bills but instead some picture
with cultural and environmental relevance?
Answer: I believe that it is not necessary to replace a person’s picture in our paper bills with
the picture of cultural and environmental relevance. While I support the showcasing of our
cultural and environmental relevance, I believe that faces of significant people in our country’s
history should remain in the front page of our paper bills as a form of reverence to them. I also
suggest that the picture of our national treasures can be shown at the reverse side of the bill
just like before.

3. Do you think internationalization erodes the sovereignty of states?

Answer: I believe that internationalization does affect the sovereignty of a state as the state
was bound to adhere to the agreements or binding standards to participate in an international
organization which limits the sovereignty of the state. Internationalization may be beneficial to
the state, however it would cost the limits in the states sovereignty. For instance, the
internationalization of human rights affected how the state would treat its nationals and alien
citizens in which they must conform to international standards laid down in the various human
rights treaties. The internationalization of financial markets, of technology and of some
manufacturing and services also bring with them a new set of limitations upon the freedom of
action of nation states. In addition, the emergence of institutions such as the World Bank, and
the International Monetary Fund, involve new constraints and imperatives.
