5th Grade News

Week of 9/6- 9/9

Hello!
As a friendly reminder, anyone who is planning on volunteering in
the school or on a field trip needs to have a background check on
file with the front office. If you are interested in volunteering for
our BizTown field trip on October 24th please plan accordingly.
WPA will be offering background checks on 9/13 for $25. Please
see the event below for more details.

Please take the time to review the information weekly for


important information regarding your student's learning, upcoming events, and valuable
reminders. Specific information regarding each teacher's classwork and assignments will be
posted directly to their website (linked below).

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!

BizTown- This week we are starting our second unit of our BizTown curriculum. Students
will be learning all about community and economy.

Reminders
A friendly reminder that school starts at 8:00 am. Students need to be in their homeroom
class at this time or will need to go to the front office to receive a tardy slip.
Fridays are early out! A friendly reminder that school ends at 12:45 pm on Fridays.
Please remember that any jackets worn in school need to follow WPA's dress code. A link
to the official dress code can be found below.
Students are limited to one magnet for decoration in their lockers. Please do not send in
stickers, wallpaper, accessories, etc. for student lockers. Thank you!

School Wide Service Day

MORE INFORMATION
We are excited to expand our school service learning program
with our first school-wide family service project. We will be
working with Woods Cross City to honor the National Day of
Service in remembrance of September 11th on a park clean-up
project. Please bring your family and join us to help beautify
our community and make a positive difference in our world.

MORE INFORMATION
We place a high priority on student safety, and we require
background checks for all classroom and field trip volunteers.
We will be hosting background checks here at the school on
September 13th, starting at 10 AM. There is a $25 fee to
complete the background check; you must bring ID. If you have
had a background check with us in the past, you are still in our
system and do not need to repeat the process. Background
checks are eligible for fee waivers if applicable.

Mark your calendars for our Fall Festival! It will be Friday,
October 7th, from 4:30-7:30. It is a wonderful way to support
the school, meet new people in our community, and enjoy an
evening with your family. It is also a wonderful way to get in
some volunteer hours. Reach out to our PTO if you are willing
to help us out with this delightful event.

We will need many chaperones from each class to help


supervise workers so J.A. City can run smoothly. Details
