Rock Painting

MATERIALS
paint
toothpick
paintbrush
smooth rocks, preferably oval or round in shape

Procedure
1. Wash and dry rocks.
2. Paint the rocks but there is no need
to paint the bottoms if these will be
sitting in the soil.
3. Paint on a black head and let dry.
4. Use the handle end of a paintbrush
to dot on ladybug spots with black
paint.
5. Use the handle end of a paintbrush
to dot on white eyes. Let dry
completely!
6. Cut the tip off of a toothpick. Dip in
black paint and dot onto white eyes.
7. Wait until it completely dries before
displaying.

BUBBLE PAINTING

MATERIALS NEEDED
cups
paint
apron
straws
dish soap
construction paper

PROCEDURE
1. Have children wear apron.
2. Distribute construction paper.
3. Mix up paint and dish soap on cups
(different dish soap per color)
4. Have children blow bubble then
have them lay their papers on top of
the cup to imprint the bubbles.

ALPHABET PAINTING

MATERIALS NEEDED
Construction paper
Paint
Paintbrush

PROCEDURE
1. Fold paper into squares and distribute
to the children.
2. Have them add different colors
or patterns to each square.
3. Then have them write the
alphabet letters over top.

MATERIALS NEEDED

construction paper

PROCEDURE
1. Group children and give each
group a tray of cut-out letters.
2. Distribute construction papers and
crayons.
3. Have children draw and color
trees.
4. On the branches of the trees, have
them arrange the letters of the
alphabet. If beyond their ability,
they can spell out words instead.
5. Have children show-and-tell their
outputs.

Procedure
1. Distribute paper to children
2. Have them draw rainbows and
have them color their drawings.
4. Have them paste the
pompoms/colored cotton balls
on top of their drawings.

PAPER BAG JELLYFISH

MATERIALS NEEDED
paint
paintbrush
paper bags
eyes (optional)

PROCEDURE
1. Distribute used/new paper bags.
2. Allow children to experiment with
paint and color the paper bags.
3. Have them create beautiful faces in
the paper bags to make the jellyfishes
more friendly.
4. Have the children tear the edges of
the paper bags so it will look more like
jelly fishes.
5. Have children show-and-tell their
outputs.

SHAPE-O-SAURUS

Materials needed
paste
ready-cut shapes
construction paper

Procedure
1. Group children and give each group a
tray full of ready-cut shapes.
2. Allow them to do whatever they want
with these shapes to create a dinosaur
by pasting these shapes on a piece of
paper given to each student.
4. Have them show-and-tell their
dinosaurs and have them count with their
classmates the total number of shapes
they used in their dinosaurs as well as
have them name the shapes they used.

PAPER TISSUE TREE

Materials
glue, crayons, construction paper,
colored tissues or tissues that are
dipped into paint

Procedure
1. Distribute art materials.
2. Have children draw first the body of the tree.
3. Smooth tissue papers to look
like flowers or leaves and them
dip them into glue and then
stick them to the tree!
