NON-INVASIVE PROCEDURE

NO GLOVES NEEDED
 Giving IM or SC injections
 Washing patients or dressing patients Hand wash or hand

 Giving medicine
 Putting a patient on oxygen
 Touching a patient’s normal skin

KEY MESSAGES FOR GLOVE USE:


A. Gloves are effective in preventing contamination of hands and helping reduce transmission of disease.
B. But, gloves do not provide complete protection against hands becoming contaminated and if gloves are
not removed immediately after use, they can spread disease.
C. Don’t use gloves unless you need to.
RECOMMENDATIONS ON GLOVE USE:
A. In no way does wearing gloves replace the need for hand hygiene either by handwashing or using an
alcohol hand rub.
B. Wear gloves when you might have contact with blood or body fluids, mucous membranes, non-intact
skin, or potentially infectious things
C. Remove gloves after caring for a resident and clean immediately.
