Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. Drain the cooling system.

Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding (303-03 Engine Cooling - 2.3L EcoBoost
(201kW/273PS), General Procedures).

2. Remove the EGR valve.

Refer to: Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve (303-08 Engine Emission Control - 2.3L EcoBoost

3. Remove the EGR back pressure sensor.

1. Remove the fastener.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
2. Remove the fastener and mounting bracket.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

5. Remove the bolt and the coolant tube.

Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

6. Loosen the clamp and detach the retainer.

l Remove the fasteners.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
l Remove and discard the gasket.

8. Disconnect the electrical connector.

1. Remove the fastener.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
2. Remove the fastener.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

3. Remove the fastener and EGR mounting bracket.

Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

10. Remove the fastener and position aside the coolant hose.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

11. Remove the fastener and EGR cooler.

Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
