 4 students from each Zonal will qualify for the Grand Finale to be held in Delhi on 5 Nov.

A series of short videos is available at the COLLINS LEARNING You Tube page- School Scrabble
Tournament 2022 introduces the basics of competitive scrabble. It is highly recommended to go
through these before the online qualifiers.

Online Qualifiers (9, 10 and 15 September) Practice Quiz: There is a “practice quiz” available here
(https://bit.ly/Scrabble2022) until 8 Sep. The qualifier quiz will follow a similar format. The actual quiz
for the qualifier will have questions similar to this practice quiz. Going through the scrabble videos
posted on the Collins Youtube page (https:// www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNAorr8M6FGr-
jEMMvoF0pkeHn8d1LjUQ) will help you with the kind of questions that will be there in the qualifying
quiz.

Qualifying Quiz:

 Quizzes will be held on 9, 10 and 15 September at 5 PM. Students can participate in either one or
both the qualifiers as per their convenience. The questions for both the qualifiers will be different, but
will carry similar difficulty. If you participate in both, the better score will be considered while selecting
qualifiers.

 Students will need to log in to https://bit.ly/Scrabble2022 just before the start time. You may need
to refresh the page at the time of the quiz. The quiz will be available for only 30 minutes.  At the start
of the quiz, the participant has to enter basic information: their full name, class, school name, city,
zone, mobile number and email id. The timer will start after this section is filled. Mobile number /
email ID can belong to the student or one of their parents.
 There are 8 Zones (Delhi / Jaipur / Mumbai / Pune / Bangalore / Hyderabad / Kolkata / Guwahati). If
a student’s city is not listed, they can mention any of the other zones most convenient for them. The
dates for each qualifier are mentioned on the Championship website.

 The quiz will have 20 questions to be answered in 15 minutes.

 There will be 10 “easy” questions carrying 3 marks each, 6 “medium” questions carrying 5 marks
each, and 4 “hard” questions carrying 10 marks each (total of 100 marks)

 There will be a mix of multiple-choice questions and those that require text answers. For such
questions, it does not matter if you write in capitals/uppercase or lowercase, e.g., if the answer is
“retain,” then any of RETAIN, Retain, or retain will be acceptable.

 During the quiz, unfair means are strictly prohibited. The participant should not change the active
window to any other software. If any such change is detected, then the quiz will shut and the scores
will be automatically submitted.

Selection of Qualifiers:

 Up to 125 students will qualify for each Zonal Competition. At least 50 of the qualifiers will be from
the “Junior” category, i.e., Class VIII and below.

 Students will be selected strictly as per their score in the qualifying quiz. There are no restrictions on
the number of qualifiers from one school.
