BRIDAL MARCH

CALL TO CELEBRATION

Minister: Brothers and sisters in Christ, in the sight of God, we gathered here to witness and
bless the joining together of JANNER and XILCA in Christian marriage. The covenant of
marriage was established by God who created us male and female for each other. With his
presence and power, Jesus graced a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and in His sacrificial love, gave
us the example for the love of husband and wife. JANNER and XILCA come to give
themselves to one another in this Holy covenant.

Let us pray, Almighty and Everlasting God, the source of life and love, whose mercy and
steadfast love toward His children is without end, we offer you this wedding ceremony, for we
acknowledge that You instituted this honorable estate. As we participate and witness in this
celebration, guide and inspire us to make this service meaningful in our lives, through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.

DECLARATION OF THE GROOM AND THE BRIDE

Minister: JANNER and XILCA, as you contemplate the making of your vows to each other,
realize that henceforth your destinies shall be woven of one design, and your perils and your
joys shall not be known apart. The word “I LOVE YOU”, first spoken shyly, is the full
commitment of yourselves to each other and to an adult responsibility in society.

Minister to Groom: JANNER, will you have XILCA to be your wife, to live together in
Christian marriage; will you love her, comfort her, honor her and keep her, in sickness and in
health, and forsaking all others, to be faithful to her so long as you both shall live?

JANNER: I will, by Gods’ help.

Minister to Bride: XILCA, will you have JANNER to be your husband, to live together in
Christian marriage? Will you love him, comfort him, honor him and keep him, in sickness and
in health, and forsaking all others, keep only him as long as you both shall live?

JANNER: I will, by God’s help.

JANNER and XILCA: We come before you today with thanksgiving and praises to God who
has not just gifted us with life and love, but also with vision and dreams of our future together.
As we share this special moment, the beginning of our lifelong commitment to each other, let us
all turn to God, in faith and hope, trusting in the life that lies ahead, through Jesus Christ our
Lord.

RESPONSE OF CHILD

Minister: Let it be known that JANNER and XILCA do not enter this commitment alone. Xilca
brings with her, her amazing son, Gabriell Lewis. And now I ask you to come forward.

Gabriell Lewis, over the years, the three of you have gotten to know each other; shared meals,
went to church, and spent time together. And now this marriage of JANNER to your mother
unites you as a family and creating a new one. They ask you for blessing.

GABRIELL LEWIS: I rejoice in your union and pray for God’s blessings upon you.

RESPONSE OF THE FAMILIES

Minister: The marriage of JANNER and XILCA unites their families and create a new one.
They ask you for blessing.

Parents and Siblings: We rejoice in your union and pray for God’s blessings upon you.

RESPONSE OF CONGREGATION

Minister: Will all of you, by God’s grace, do everything in your power to uphold and care for
these two individuals in their marriage?

ALL: We, your brothers and sisters in Christ, join in thanksgiving and praise to God as you
proclaim your love and commitment to each other. We share in your dream to build a
partnership and a home together and we pray and hope with you today as we celebrate God’s
gift of life and love.

COVENANT OF MARRIAGE

EXCHANGE OF VOWS

Minister: Christian marriage is a total commitment of man and a woman to each other for a
lifetime. JANNER and XILCA, you will now face each other, hold hands and make your
pledges of devotion and commitment to each other in the presence of God.

JANNER: Personal vows first.

In the name of God, I take you, XILCA, to be my wife to have and to hold from this day
forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and
cherish, until we are parted by death. This is my solemn vow.

XILCA: Personal vows first.

In the name of God, I take you, JANNER, to be my husband to have and to hold from this day
forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and
cherish, until we are parted by death. This is my solemn vow.

BLESSING OF THE HANDS

Minister: Now take each other’s hands with palms facing up and open while this is read.

GABRIELL LEWIS: These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of
love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other
today, tomorrow, and forever. These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together
you build your future. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you
through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other. These are the
hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind. These are the hands that will
countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow, and as in today, tears of joy.
These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children, the hands that will help you to hold
your family as one. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it. And
lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours,
still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.

BLESSING AND EXCHANGE OF RINGS

Minister: These rings consist of gold, the purest of all metal, symbolizing the purity of
Christian marriage, and their round shape symbolizes everlasting love. They are then the
outward and visible signs of an inward and spiritual grace signifying to us the union of
JANNER and XILCA in Christian marriage through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Just as no one is
able to determine the beginning or the ending of a ring, so must love be between husband and
wife.

Let us pray. Bless, O LORD, the giving and receiving of these rings, that they who wear them
may live in your grace and continue in your favor all the days of their lives, through Jesus
Christ, our Lord. Amen.

JANNER: I give you this ring, as a sign of my vow, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I
honor you, in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

XILCA: I give you this ring, as a sign of my vow, and all that I am, and all that I have, I honor
you, in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

(the couple ascends to the altar)

PRESENTATION OF THE COIN

Minister: These coins are token of God’s blessings to sustain your welfare and well-being in
married life in accordance to your needs. In receiving these, bear in mind that wealth and
material goods are as needful to your body as love and patience, and all other spiritual blessings
are to your soul. Both material and spiritual blessings be earned and shared with the best that
each of you can give. JANNER and XILCA, hold the coins now in your hands as a sign and
pledge that such blessing will no longer be held separately but together. Above all, may you
always show that whatever gifts you may have in this life are not yours ultimately but God’s.
As stewards of God’s gifts, use them well.

PRESENTATION OF THE BIBLE

Minister: In this union there is third party – God. The Bible will show you the will of God, and
will guide you in your life together. Take this as your rule of faith and guide. Constantly read
and meditate on this book, asking God to show you His ways so you may establish your home
and family. And may God’s word always be “a lamp unto your feet and the light unto your
path.”

THE PLACING OF THE VEIL (The Veil sponsors to put on the veil to the couple)

Minister: The veil symbolizes God’s continued protection and provision upon your new
partnership. May you experience the love of God that is faithful and empowering in your home
and may you express the same to all whom you meet as you celebrate life and love.

It is also the symbol of love and understanding. May you always find shelter and affirmation,
sanctuary and refuge in your marriage so that you can both find comfort and strength to face the
challenges that awaits you.

THE PUTTING OF THE CORD (The Cord sponsors to put on the cord to the couple).

Minister: The cord is the symbol of the ultimate unity that God bestows upon you. It further
symbolizes the co-responsibility of the couple in married life. May this cord symbolize the
security of your connectedness as you begin your new life together.

You are joined with this cord. Not so tightly that your individual gifts and dreams are crushed;
and not so loosely that you cannot build on shared visions and aspirations. May you remember
the Spirit of God that binds you together; not to call either of you to submission but to a
celebration of new partnership built on love and mutuality.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Minister: Most gracious God, we give You thanks for your tender love in making us a
covenant people through our Savior Jesus Christ, and for consecrating in His Name the
marriage covenant for JANNER and XILCA. Grant that their love for each other may reflect the
love of Christ for us and grow from strength to strength as they faithfully serve You in the
world. Defend them from every enemy. Lead them into all peace. Let their love for each other
be a seal upon their hearts, a mantle about their shoulders and a crown upon their heads. In
Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

A WORD TO THE PRINCIPAL SPONSORS

Minister: Dear sponsors, JANNER and XILCA look up to you with great respect and love, and
see in you the embodiment of the kind of persons they would wish to emulate. They are now
like your own children. Please establish with them keen relationship that you may at all times
be available to encourage, advice, counsel, take personal interest in their needs, assume that role
of persons they can always rely on or trust with respect, giving spiritual guidance and words of
wisdom.

PRINCIPAL SPONSORS: We will.

Minister: Will you Principal Sponsors of JANNER and XILCA lay your hand upon the couple.
You may extend your arms towards them symbolize that from now on, you are already related
and connected with them as you fulfill your covenant to them. Let us pray.

ALL: Most Gracious God, we give thanks for your tender love for consecrating the marriage
covenant of JANNER and XILCA. Grant that their love for each other be a seal upon their
hearts, a mantle upon their shoulder and crown above their heads. Bless them in their works
and in their companionships, in their sleeping and in their waking, in their joys and sorrows all
through their lives. Grant them strength that they may grow and faithfully serve you through
Jesus Christ our Lord who live and reigns forever and ever. AMEN.

(Removal of the veil and cord)

SIGNING OF THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

LIGHTING OF THE UNITY CANDLE

Minister: The candles symbolize the baptismal faith received by the baptized Christian on the
day of baptism. It is basically the light of Christ.
Jesus freely spoke of the light and darkness to signify the Christian’s commission to overcome
the evil of the world by the light of goodness. Candlelight symbolizes the commitment of the
love of JANNER and XILCA are declaring today.

(Candle sponsors to light the small candles)

Minister: Before you are the three special wedding candles, the smaller candles symbolize the
lives of the bride and groom. Until today, both have let their light shine as individuals in the
community. Now they have come to publicly proclaim their love in the union of marriage. They
do not lose their individuality. Yet in marriage, they are united in so close a bond that they
become one. Now following the profession of their marriage vows, they will light the larger
center candle from the smaller candles to symbolize this new reality.

(Groom and Bride to light the center candle)

Minister: Now Xilca, blow out your candle (Xilca blows out the candle). Time will come
when Xilca’s flame will wane and she will need to gain her strength from you Janner. (Xilca
lights her candle from the flame of Janner’s candle).

Now Janner, blow out your candle (Janner blows out the candle). Time will also come when
Janner will be weak hearted, and during those times he will need your strength Xilca, to support
him. (Janner lights his candle from the flame of Xilca’s candle).

Now blow out both your candles. (Both candles blown out). When the time comes that both
of you are weak and have no one to turn to, always remember that God is there to lift you up.
(Janner and Xilca lights their candle from the Unity candle).

And now blow out your candles as well as the Unity Candle. (These candles are blown out)
Now when the time comes that the strength of your marriage and love is challenged and shaken,
run to God and implore Him to save your marriage, and He will be faithful to you and answer
your prayers. (Janner and Xilca light their candles from the Christ candle and relight the Unity
Candle).

As the two lights are now blended into one, so two lives are blended into one in the covenant of
Christian marriage. JANNER and XILCA, may you be one in name, one in your aspirations and
happily united in Christ’s love, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE COUPLE

JANNER and XILCA: God of our past, our present and our future, we know that we begin
this journey not on our own, for you are with us and within us. You have gone before us to
prepare the way, yet you remain among us as Companion and Friend. We commit our marriage
to you. Hold our variable nature with Your everlasting embrace. Give us stability and
constancy, so that we may accept each other as we are, and go forwarding the new journey You
open before us. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit that your power may work within us so that we
may infinitely do more than we can ask or imagine as we begin our new life together. Amen.

BLESSING OF THE MARRIAGE

Minister: O God, you have so consecrated the covenant of Christian marriage that in it is
represented the covenant between Christ and His Church. Send therefore your blessing upon
JANNER and XILCA that they may surely keep their marriage covenant, and so grow in love
and godliness together that their home may be haven of blessing and peace; through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.

DECLARATION OF MARRIAGE

Minister: You have declared your vows before our God and to the people. May God confirm
you covenant and fill you both with grace. Now that JANNER and XILCA have given
themselves to each other by solemn vows, as Minister of God and by the authority vested upon
me, we announce that they are now HUSBAND and WIFE; in the name of the Father, and the
Son, and the Holy Spirit. Those whom God has joined together, let no man put asunder.

THE DISMISSAL WITH BLESSINGS

Minister to Husband and Wife: God, the Eternal, keep you in love with each other, so that the
peace of Christ may abide in your home. Go to serve God and your neighbor in all that you do.
Amen.

Minister to People: Bear witness to the love of God in this world, so that those to whom love is
stranger will find in you generous friends.

Minister to all: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of
the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
