This presents students with the opportunity to reflect on their present position in relation to
issues of religion, faith, prayer and ritual. It facilitates moral development through the
application of a process of moral decision-making.

V. Learning Outcomes: At the end of this topic, each learner should be able to:

3. Compare and contrast the results of an investigation or research about religion
4. State your own position in relation to the result of the investigation or research about the
meaning of Religion
VI. Introduction: engages the students in the human search for meaning and offers them
an opportunity to reflect, understand and interpret that experience in the light of our
changing world what Religion is and its importance. It invites students to examine religious
stories, and where appropriate, their own religious story, and to value their place within it
now and in the future
VII. Lesson Proper:
A. Pre-Assessment/Motivation/Review
This module presents students with the opportunity to reflect on their present position
in relation to issues of religion, faith, prayer and ritual. On how you will value your
religion on how it will guide in these changing times. encourages the promotion of
mutual understanding and tolerance. Please pray upon starting to read your lessons.
B. Discussion:
Meaning of Religion

Religion is understood to influence subjective wellbeing through various ways; the religious
community gives people a sense of belonging and provides an important source of social
support, religion gives people’s lives meaning and purpose, and finally, religion encourages
people to lead healthier life styles.

consensus over what precisely constitutes a religion. [2][3]
Different religions may or may not contain various elements ranging from the divine,[4] sacred
things,[5] faith,[6] a supernatural being or supernatural beings [7] or "some sort of ultimacy and
transcendence that will provide norms and power for the rest of life". [8] Religious practices
may include rituals, sermons, commemoration or veneration
(of deities and/or saints), sacrifices, festivals, feasts, trances, initiations, funerary
services, matrimonial services, meditation, prayer, music, art, dance, public service, or other
aspects of human culture. Religions have sacred histories and narratives, which may be
preserved in sacred scriptures, and symbols and holy places, that aim mostly to give
a meaning to life. Religions may contain symbolic stories, which are sometimes said by
followers to be true, that have the side purpose of explaining the origin of life, the universe,
and other things. Traditionally, faith, in addition to reason, has been considered a source
of religious beliefs.[9]

4. According to the Bible Religion is also Fellowship where you belong, where the people
who believe in God, where you will learn the deeper meaning of relationship with God
by knowing and believing in Jesus Christ. James 10:24-25 Assembly of believers
where you practice faith and learn service to other believers. Religion is also where we
can learn that God is creator, redeemer sustainer who wants us to participate with all
creations to enhance each others lives. We can also learn “persons are created in the
image of God and destined to live in community with God, with other persons and with
all creation that by disobedience they become sinful, but by grace through faith they are
redeemed in Jesus Christ. That being entrusted with God’s creation they are called to
participate in the establishment of a just and compassionate social order.” (SoF#2)

VIII. Evaluation
1. Define what is meant by Religion reflecting on your ordinary life.
2. Make a survey about Religion
You can interview friends, family according to age, sex, belief and culture
Possible question could include:
a. How would you describe religion?
b. How is religion important to you? Why and why not?
c. How does religion give meaning to your life on a day to day basis?
d. Have there been any particular times in your life when religion played an important
part? If so, when and why?
e. Does Religion make any demand on your life in terms of behavior thought and
action?
f. Do you belong in a particular church?
g. How could you rate your attendance and involvement in your church?
h. The result of the investigation should be presented on hard copy to be used on
your video reporting
i. This following question will help you analyze your survey so that you will be
reporting as briefly as you can:
a. What have we discovered about religion? What have we discovered about the
practices and attitudes of people with regard to religion?
b. How are important moments in life celebrated in different religions? Baptism,
marriages, burials, even birthday, thanksgiving for harvest and other
celebrations of the family.
c. Difference or similarities of the beliefs of young and old people. (children,
teenagers and senior citizens man & woman)
3. Compare and contrast the results of an investigation or research. Write a brief report
of your investigation 200 words
4. State in your own position in relation to the result of the investigation or research.
Where do I stand in relation to this? Include your favorite verse or sayings that guides
you spiritually and morally.
