Course Description The field of finance has become more analytical, with emphasis on decision-oriented approaches to problems rather than old,
descriptive approach. Basic Finance tackles the great importance of the finance function in almost any area of business. Foremost of its
goal is to maximize the wealth of the owner-shareholders by integrating concepts on:
1. Risk and Rate of Return
2. Time Value of Money
3. Working Capital Management
4. Financial Analysis and Financial Forecasting
5. Financial Environment
Course Intended
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the semester, the students are expected to be able to:

1. Solve time value of money and can interpret the results of the solution.
2. Describe the expected, required, and realized return and can list and contrast the sources of risk.
3. Identify the feature of a common and preferred stocks.
4. Identify the general characteristics of bonds and determination of its prices and interest rates.
5. Computation of the rates of return (ROR).
