3. Why two universal joints are used along with the propeller shaft of a vehicle ?

4. Why a differential is needed in vehicles ?

5. What are the various loads that act on a drive axle ?

6. Compare a tubeless tyre with that of a tubed tyre.

7. What are the differences between coil spring suspension and torsion spring
suspension ?

8. List out the advantages of independent suspension system.

9. Differentiate a drum brake with that of a disc brake.

10. Illustrate the function of a wheel cylinder with a simple sketch.

11. a) i) Sketch and explain the layout of a rear engine and rear drive car. What
are the advantages and limitations of this layout ? (7)
ii) Sketch and explain ladder type of frames used for trucks. (6)

ii) Explain Ackerman steering mechanism with a neat sketch. (7)

12. a) i) What is a constant velocity joint ? Illustrate its usage in a vehicle. (3)
