>> Charleston RiverDogs center fielder Shane Sasaki (‘Iolani) remained hot this past week, going 7-for-18
(389) with three home runs in five games. He scored eight runs and drove in seven and stole three
bases without getting caught, bringing his season total to 47, tied for third in the league. Since the start
of August, Sasaki is batting 374 with eight home runs in 115 at-bats. He continues to lead the league in
batting average by a large margin, as well as on-base and slugging percentages, with the regular season
ending today. On Wednesday, the RiverDogs clinched the Carolina League South Division's second-half
championship. The three game playoff series against the first half champion Myrtle Beach Pelicans be-
gins Tuesday in Charleston. The winner advances to the league championship series.
>> Lake County Captains pitcher Aaron Davenport (Hawail) went the distance on Sept. 4 in a threehit,
seven-inning shutout of the Great Lakes Loons. The Captains won that doubleheader opener 40 but
lost the nightcap 3.2. Fellow UH alum Kekai Rios, who catches for Great Lakes, did not play in Game
1. He went 0-for-2 in Game 2.
>> Outfielder Kala‘i Rosario (Waiakea) had a ninegame hit streak that ran through Sept. 4. In the last five
of those games he went 10-for-20 with four multi-hit games. He also homered in back-to-back games.
