HOW CORONA VIRUS HAS AFFECTED
OUR LIFE
The last four months have seen the greatest upheaval for Irish
consumers in modern times. Almost overnight everything changed in
the middle of March and it would be hard to overestimate the trauma
Covid-19 has inflicted on us all.
Hundreds of thousands of people lost their jobs while many more
suddenly had to work from home, frequently in circumstances which
were a long way from ideal. Virtually everyone was cut off from
friends and family for months while almost every other aspect of
normal life that would have been taken for granted at the start of the
year was turned on its head.
Social activity stopped, shops – save for those deemed essential –
shut, people were told not to move more than 2km from their front
doors. And, of course, thousands of people got sick with far too many
losing their lives.
The economic consequences of the crisis, meanwhile, have yet to be
fully felt.
But maybe today marks something of a watershed with the country
set to reopen almost entirely with the lockdown all but ending and
people told they have their personal responsibility back. Churches,
gyms, cinemas, restaurants, hotels, leisure facilities and hairdressers
can all reopen as can museums, galleries, theatres and concert halls.
All sporting activity can resume while the shops that have not yet
reopened can do so now.
But how has Covid-19 changed us as consumers and will those
changes endure? Without an effective crystal ball it is hard to answer
the second part of that question but the first part can is easier and
here are just some of the ways our consuming world has changed.
AN INCIDEN WHEN YOU REMBER GAVE
YOU PLEASUR
Today was the most memorable incident of my life. It was apparently
dangerous as well as funny. It probably would have cost me my life. It
all began when I went for a short vacation to my grandfather's house
in a village. The village was situated in northern tip of UP
He did give me energy and inspiration through words and being
there for me, when I wanted. So I did well in my academics and
sports. when I had to write a competitive exam, he traveled with me
and gave an encouraging pat on my shoulder. I did well in that exam
too. He did give me the basic general knowledge about the world.
We used to work together at home for the needs of the house. We
used to shop vegetables too. Sometimes we learn some things just by
looking at our elders. I learned to speak good english from my father.
Many people respected my father. So I felt the need and an urge to
secure such good respect from relatives, friends and outsiders too. He
was a good man who inspired me to succeed in life.
We visited the Red Fort first. The Red Fort is also known as Lal Quila
and is the landmark of Delhi. It stands on the bank of river Yamuna. It
was built by Shah Jehan in 1648. It is built using red stones. It
consisted of Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas, Rang Mahal etc. The
surroundings of the pavilion have been decorated using precious
stones, gems, valuable stones and silver linings.
The Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag here on Red Fort
on every Independence Day and addresses to the nation from its
rampart.
By noon, we had completed the tour of Red Fort and returned back. I
enjoyed my trip to the Red Fort very much. It was really an
unforgettable experience which apart from being intellectually
rewarding gave us a glimpse of our country's proud history.
