ENVIRONMENT - conditions by which one is surrounded


ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT - is an organized approach to supervise the environmental
affairs of an organization.
ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING - is a process of identifying, assessing and coming up with
solutions to environmental issues.
ENVIRONMENTAL GOVERNANCE - includes policy, rules and norms that govern human behavior
and it also addresses who makes decisions, how decisions are made and carried out, the
scientific information needed for decision-making and how the public and major stakeholders
can participate in the decision-making.
PLANNING - the process of making plans for something.
TRADITIONAL PLANNING - instead of developing in iterations as you would in Agile process,
you track change management in sequential phases.
SECTORAL DEVELOPMENT - A particular sector of a country's economy is the part connected
with that specified type of industry.
DEVELOPMENT PLAN - documents the goals, required skill and competency development, and
objectives a staff member will need to accomplish in order to support continuous
improvement and career development.
EKISTICS - science of human settlements. Ekistics involves the descriptive study of all kinds of
human settlements and the formulation of general conclusions aimed at achieving harmony
between the inhabitants of a settlement and their physical and sociocultural environments.
URBAN BLIGHT - is marked by deteriorating and abandoned homes and buildings, as well as
vacant lots with trash, high weeds and grass and/or abandoned and vandalized cars.
AMORPHIC SPRAWL - the rapid expansion of the geographic extent of cities and towns, often
characterized by low-density residential housing, single-use zoning, and increased reliance on
the private automobile for transportation.

HIGHLY URBANIZED CITIES - are those with a minimum population of (200,000 inhabitants, as
certified by the National Statistics Office, and with the latest annual income of at least
P50,000,000.00 based on 1991 constant prices, as certified by the city treasurer per Section
452 of Republic Act 7160).

COMPONENT CITIES – means an incorporated city or town within a public transportation


benefit area.

URBAN BARANGAY - a unit of administration in Philippine society consisting of from 50 to 100


families under a headman.
Briefly answer the following questions below:

1. What is the greatest environmental problem man faces in this generation?


Why?
- Our environment faces a few issues, and many of these are getting worse. Therefore,
it is important to raise awareness of the existence of these issues. One of them is the
Pollution. Pollution can be on air, water and soil. It is caused by plastics, metals and nitrates.
Gases released by industrial facilities, combustion of fossil fuels, acid rain, oil, spills and
industrial waste. Air pollution can cause severe illness such as respiratory disease and
cardiovascular disease.

2. Describe how the Central Business District in your own municipality has been
planned. You may take pictures of your CBD to further illustrate the scenario.
- Our municipality has planned a Clean-up drive on all roads for the cleanliness of the
surroundings. They plan and organize it by asking for the cooperation of Barangay Captains in
specific areas. Clean-up drive is one of the programs of our municipality to maintain the
cleanliness of our roads, and to prevent the canals from being blocked which causes flooding
due to blocked canals.

3. Among the major components of planning process, which one do you think is the
most critical step or phase? Why?
- Procedures because Procedures are some of the most important elements
of planning. It describes the exact way in which something needs to be done.
It also typically guides actions for activities performed by managers and
employees.

4. Do you agree that there is a relationship between environmental planning


and public administration? Why?
- Yes, because, under the environmental management, public administrators are
responsible for the management of natural resources. The Government conducts
environmental planning to keep our environment clean. Obligation of an administrator to
conduct the environment planning for the safety of the citizen or people.

5. What are the personal characteristics that you possess which may you qualify as an
environmental planner? Why?
-Environmental planners must be able to think creatively when it comes to solving
problems. They often work with clients who have very specific needs or goals in mind for
example, they might need help finding ways to reduce their carbon footprint or find new ways
to reuse waste products trust and respect follow. Interaction is an essential to an
environment planner because a plan cannot be formed without communication and provides
the idea
of communication in planning.
