VIRTUAL TEACHING-ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

In recent times a huge change in the education sector has been witnessed globally, the
advancement of technology has introduced virtual teaching and learning to a mass population.
This teaching methodology has increased manyfold in this unfortunate time of pandemic.

There is a vast number of subjects that are available for anyone to study and master to an certain
extent. Subjects ranging from Chemistry, Physics, Management to Art, Animation as well as
vocational subjects can be taught from any part of the world. This makes the learning process
easier and it promotes self-paced learning. Also in a conventional classroom slides , animations
can be fun and easier to grasp. Anyone who has a skill can teach others from the comfort of their
home. Many underprivileged students can learn from top universities for free or by paying a very
trivial amount. Platforms such as Unacademy , Udemy are seeing humongous profits in recent
times.

But as we know that every coin has two faces this new teaching process comes with some
negative aspects as well.
Many teachers are not trained enough to be able to focus on students and keeping track of
teaching platforms simultaneously. As the students and the teachers have to look at the screen
continuously it can strain their eyes. Trivial classroom environment is lively in nature whereas
sitting in front of a screen does not allow a student to nurture their communication skills.

It is clear that virtual teaching can be beneficial to teachers as well as students in this current
situation, but it cannot be feasible alternative to conventional teaching method. It can only be
used as an alternative.
