: Not expected to be sensitive to mechanical impact or static discharge.
Suitable extinguishing media : Use water spray to fight fires. Some chemical extinguishing agents may react with this
material.
Special fire-fighting procedures/equipment
: Firefighters should wear proper protective equipment and self-contained breathing
apparatus with full face piece operated in positive pressure mode. Move containers from fire
area if safe to do so. Water spray may be useful in cooling equipment exposed to heat and
flame.
Hazardous combustion products
: Carbon oxides; Sodium oxides; Nitrogen oxides (NOx); Phosphorus compounds; Sulphur

trained personnel only. Wear suitable protective equipment. Refer to protective measures
listed in sections 7 and 8.
Environmental precautions : Ensure spilled product does not enter drains, sewers, waterways, or confined spaces.
Spill response/cleanup : Remove all sources of ignition. Ventilate area of release. Stop spill or leak at source if safely
possible. Sweep up and shovel into suitable containers for disposal. Spills which have
occurred outdoors should be temporarily covered to prevent spreading of the chemical by
the wind. Refer to Section 13 for disposal of contaminated material. Notify the appropriate
authorities as required.
Prohibited materials : Do not use combustible absorbents, such as sawdust.

Carcinogenic status : No components are listed as carcinogens by ACGIH, IARC, OSHA or NTP.
Reproductive effects : Contains: Sodium metaborate, anhydrous. Sodium metaborate, anhydrous will metabolize to
Boric acid. The data regarding subchronic and chronic oral exposure to boric acid in
laboratory animals have demonstrated reproductive and developmental toxicity. Available
animal data indicates that this substance has toxic effects on the male reproductive tract and
causes malformations in the fetus. Testicular lesions have been observed in rats, mice, and
dogs administered boric acid in food or drinking-water (INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMME
ON CHEMICAL SAFETY Environmental Health Criteria document # 204).

Teratogenicity : Contains: Sodium metaborate, anhydrous. Sodium metaborate, anhydrous will metabolize to
Boric acid. Developmental toxicity has been demonstrated experimentally in animals.
Average fetal body weight per litter was significantly reduced. Malformations consisted
primarily of anomalies of the eyes, the CNS, the cardiovascular system, and the axial
skeleton. The most common malformations were enlargement of lateral ventricles in the
brain and agenesis or shortening of rib XIII (INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMME ON
CHEMICAL SAFETY Environmental Health Criteria document # 204).

Mutagenicity : Not expected to be mutagenic in humans.

Epidemiology : Not available.
Sensitization to material : Not expected to be a skin or respiratory sensitizer.
Synergistic materials : Not available.
Irritancy : Corrosive
other important hazards : None known.
Conditions aggravated by overexposure
: Pre-existing skin, eye, respiratory or blood system disorders.
