According to Florida State University the meaning of "philosophy" is a "love of
wisdom." A basic meaning would be, philosophy is an activity where people undertake when they seek to understand fundamental truths about themselves, the world in which they live, and their relationships to the world and to each other. As an academic discipline philosophy is much the same. Those who study philosophy are perpetually engaged in asking, answering, and arguing for their answers to find the answer what is life. And that is why philosophy is divided into many branches and many types especially in terms of academics.
WHAT IS PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION?
According to Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, Philosophy of education is the
branch of the practical philosophy which based on the nature and aims of education and the philosophical problems arising from educational theory and practice. Philosophy of education is proven to be done throughout almost all human societies, its social and individual manifestations is also varied due to the advancements of time, and its influence so profound, the subject is wide-ranging, involving issues in ethics and social/political philosophy. WHAT ARE THE BRANCHES OF PHILOSOPHY?
Philosophy has four main branches. By understanding educational philosophy one
will be able to contribute to the understanding of how these foundations have given rise to what is commonly practiced and believed in the classroom today. The four main branches of philosophy are metaphysics, epistemology, axiology, and logic. Each having their own ways to perceive philosophy itself.
