CHEERDANCE
, sometimes referred to as cheerleading, is a team physicalactivity using organized routines for the
purpose of motivating a sportsteam, entertaining an audience, or competition.-
Cheerdanceperformances usually take a few minutes and is alwaysdone by multiple performers, with
formal cheerdancecompetitionsoutlining various requirements such as minimum and maximum
numberof performers and a time limit.-Performances usually involve dances, tumbles, jumps, cheers,
andstunts. In its original form, cheerdancingwas done to encourage a sportsteam
by directing theaudience to show support, providing the team with motivation and apsychological edge
in the game.-Over the years, cheerdancinghas evolved into a contest on its own,
withcheerdancecompetitions held in conjunction with team-based games,such as basketball or football.
Today, cheerdancecompetitions are oftenheld independent of any other event, becoming a sport all its
own.
