The Builders Association of India vide reference 6 cited, have represented that in
all Road works of R&B Department Grade VI material has been proposed as GSB as
per MoRJH sth Revision. However, there is scarcity in finer materials i.e., +.2{#h
down materials and even during crrrshing process at different stages they are not
ge,ttiag suflicient liner materials to execute GSB item and they requested to permit

Grade III material for GSB.
The representation given by Builders Association of India has been examined in
d"gla4 and it ^ip observed that, as per Clause 401 and sub clause 401.2.1, the

material for GSB shall be free from Organic or other deleterious constituents and
shall conform to the gradings given in table 400- 1 and physical requiremenmts
given in table 4OA"2 and Grading III and IV shall be preferably be used in lower
sub
€U' base and Grading V and VI shall be used as a sub base cum drainage layer.
In view of the atbove, and since in all these works GSB item need to cater to the
twin objectives of <lrainage and structural layers, permitting Grading III material for
GSB cannot be accepted. However, either Grading V with

per Table 400-1 or Grading VI with gradation of material as per Table
400-1 can be
