HiTEC® 523F delivers the same performance as HiTEC® 523 but contains a non-
silicone based antifoam. At a treat rate of 0.6 % wt. HiTEC® 523F delivers 75 ppm
of anti-foam to the finished fluid.
This report contains a summary of work carried out during the evaluation of HiTEC®
Additional testing was also carried out to evaluate the fluid against Public Power
Corporation (PPC) requirements.
The following describes the blends formulated for testing against DIN 51524 part II
(April 2006). HI 028333.40 is formulated with HiTEC® 523 and a top treat of a non-
silicone based antifoam whilst HI 028333.41 is formulated with HiTEC® 523F which
contains antifoam so does not require top treating. Both formulations contain a
polymethacrylate based pour point depressant and Group I MOH base stocks.

pump test replaced the ASTM D2882 vane pump test in 2004. The ISO 20763 vane pump test is equivalent to the ASTM
D7043 vane pump test with the exception of test duration and pump speed. The ISO 20763 vane pump test runs for 250 hours
at a speed of 1460 rpm whilst the ASTM D7043 vane pump test runs for 100 hours at a pump speed of 1200 rpm. Fluids that
show acceptable performance in the ISO 20763 vane pump test would be expected to show acceptable performance in the
less severe ASTM D7043 vane pump test.

The PPC requirements stated ASTM D2882 should be used for the vane pump test. The ASTM D7043 vane
The data compiled for HiTEC® 523 @ 0.6 % wt. in MOH ISO 46 VG base stocks meets or
exceeds all of the requirements of the DIN 51524 part II specification.
A formulation utilising HiTEC® 523F has been tested for foam control and air release and has
demonstrated equivalent or improved performance in both parameters. Performance in other
tests is not anticipated to be affected utilising HiTEC® 523F instead of HiTEC® 523 with a top
treat of a non-silicone based antifoam.
HiTEC® 523 @ 0.6 % wt. in MOH ISO 46 VG base stocks was also tested against the
additional requirements of the Public Power Corporation (PPC). The testing demonstrated that
the formulation met the FZG, vane pump test and 4-ball wear requirements but did not meet
the Life TOST requirement.
