DESCRIPTION & LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The “TL2PM” game is an interactive on-line simulation game that will help you experience the role of
a Project Manager. You are required to complete an important project while managing cost and time.

The project scope is provided to you in detail. You have to allocate resources to ensure the project is
completed within time and budget objectives. You would have to analyze information on functional
team size, task completion, cost, productivity and schedule. You might need to make tradeoffs
between desired project outcomes when not all project objectives can be met.
DESCRIPTION OF GAME DECISIONS

As a Project Manager you have to allocate resources to ensure project is completed within time and
budget objectives. The various decisions which you would have to take are as follows

Personnel
You have to appoint appropriate personnel with relevant experience for completion of the various
tasks. The personnel selection has some constraints which can be overcome by paying some extra
money. It is important that you keep a tab on the costs while appointing personnel.

Overtime
You can decide overtime policy for the project. It impacts productivity in two ways – (i) Increases the
amount of time people work which should improve the output; (ii) May increase the number of
mistakes which they make as they feel overworked!

Meetings
You can decide the number of meetings for the project. The meetings can again impact productivity
in two ways – (i) Keeps everyone informed and / or trained about the project and would reduce the
number of mistakes which might occur; (ii) Reduces working time!

Estimates
Every round your own estimate of time and cost of project completion helps you in improving your
estimation thought-process when you take a look-back at the project after its completion.

The page provides you weekly progress of the project in the Gantt Chart format.
